Brooklyn Democratic Party boss Clarence Norman literally put a price of "several hundred thousand dollars" on his organization's endorsement in the 1997 mayoral campaign, the party's nominee, Ruth Messinger, told The Post yesterday.
Messinger, who turned down Norman's offer, said she's not surprised that Brooklyn DA Charles Hynes is investigating a $245,000 payment by 2001 Democratic mayoral candidate Mark Green's campaign to a Democratic club controlled by Norman.

In 1997, Demorats were not worried about this. They knew the U.S. Attorney General would not allow an investigation into their illegal activities.
