June 19, 2003 -- FIFTY years ago on this day, I stood with a few thousand largely Jewish and left-wing New Yorkers on a street off Union Square, vainly hoping that our vigil would call off the executions of Julius and Ethel Rosenberg.

They will hear speeches from the Rosenbergs' sons, Robert and Michael Meeropol; from Harry Belafonte; from the ever-present Susan Sarandon...

Does this come as a surprise to anyone?

The Clinton people who surrendered nuclear weapons technology to the Chinese should be tried for the same thing. ALL OF THEM!

The Venona files: These decryptions of Soviet intelligence communications to agents in New York, released in 1995 by the CIA and NSA, provided the final proof that Julius was a Soviet agent; that he had put together a ring including fellow CCNY alumni engineers Joel Barr, Alfred Sarant and William Perl, all of whom gave the Soviets, through Rosenberg, top-secret military data. (This information was not used to prosecute the Rosenbergs, since the U.S. government didn't want the Soviets to learn that their code had been broken.) These cables, as New York Times reporter Sam Roberts wrote, "have gone a long way toward persuading some people that the Rosenbergs were guilty of more than belonging to the Communist Party and that the highest levels of the Communist Party were aware of and even involved in Soviet espionage."

I guess Suzan, Harry and the gang can't read. Probably educated at public schools.

And, pray tell, what would the "tolerant and compassionate" lefties do without "victims?" These warped individuals thrive on being "victims," and making themselves and others "victims," so that they can feel good about themselves by being "tolerant and compassionate."

The self-hatred of these leftists is monumental. That wouldn't be so bad for us, but these warped individuals continually inflict their neuroses on our culture.

Lefties wallow in the idea of being hated b/c hatred enhances victimization. Self-made liberal "victims" are ego-driven with an outsized sense of entitlement by which they extort rewards through political correctness and victimology.

Victimology is defined as the art of blaming and finding others responsible for your own personal failures, then looking and expecting others -- like the taxpayers -- to bail you out.

I suppose if the left continues to create victims of spies, and other anti-Americans, so as to encourage hatred, a lot of people will be glad accomodate them.

Lefties......a bunch of cultural zeroes.

We should celebrate the day of their execution like the Brits celebrate "Guy Fawkes" day.

That's for sure. The lowlife two-timers go where the power is, not for any principled reason. They had better keep their filthy paws off the conservative agenda, and I do mean abortion. We don't need any sicko lefty neurotics sticking their coke-lined noses into pro-life issues.

No amount of newly discovered evidence, no accumulation of new facts seems to have made a dent in their minds.

Of course not. A political culture that actually thinks there's nothing wrong with how Frank Lautenberg got elected to the NJ Senate, and thinks that the Clintons are saints, isn't going to let some silly historical facts get in the way of their faith...

Thanks for the ping.

Fifty years later, I can only say, "Good riddance" to those scumbags.

The question in my mind is who decided that keeping the secret of the Venona Files was more valuable than a nuclear device being stolen. The whole bunch of lefties could've been rolled up in a month.

Someone made the point, on an earlier thread regarding the Rosenbergs, that (paraphrased) was "Only 364 commies to go and we can celebrate every day of the year".

I wish I had made a note of who it was...

Indeed, that Rosenberg even had access to the Russian Fish machine made him guilty of treason!

To this very day we are confronted by the threat from communists. I personally apply the label rather liberally to include all collectivists like those who choose to live in condominiums and “planned” communities.

It's true!

Have you ever read one of those horrid covenant documents? They read like pages taken straight from Chairman Mao's Little Red Book.

I'm telling ya, Marx and Lenin are cheering from the grave every time some useful idiot signs one of those damn things.

Have a friend who lives in a town house "community." She says you either go along or you get trampled on. Everything is collectivized. The "board" makes the decisions for everyone. Like they decide the houses get painted and even if you don't want to, you have to get painted....and fork over the $12G to get it done. The board even decides where flowers are to be planted.
