Yesterday, June 19th, Representative Scott Gunderson introduced the long-awaited concealed carry bill.
Before the bill can be assigned a number, it must be circulated by Representative Gunderson for co-sponsors. You can help by urging your state rep to support Rep. Gunderson's concealed carry bill.
While legislative action on the bill will likely not begin until September, it's important that we start applying pressure right now.
The most effective way to make an impression on your legislators is to write them. Phone calls are ok, but it's the written letter that really carries weight. Emails are next to worthless for this purpose.
Remember, it's equally important that you contact your state senator as well as your state representative. Let your senator know that you want him/her to support concealed carry.
Once the bill has been assigned a number, the text of it will be available at www.wisconsinconcealedcarry.com.
Let's roll!

Governor Doyle is a democrat, the House and Senate are Republican controlled.

If Minnesota has CCW, there MUST be hope for Wisconsin.
Any chance Doyle will sign this?

What are the chances this will pass?

I'm not sure if you watched the debates from Minnesota, but Jdege did a great job in keeping everyone apprized as to what's happening in Minnesota.
We need someone from Wisconsin to keep us informed with updates just like Jdege is doing. We'll need to get to work to make Wisonsin the 34TH "Shall Issue" state.
Anyone up for that?

Too funny. I didn't even know I had been redistricted. Thanx for the link.

Has Doyle taken a stance on this yet? This reminds me of Missouri with a GOP legislature and a Dem governor who vetored concealed carry.

I have heard rumors that this is a fight Doyle does not want. The bill will pass in the Assembly and the Senate, with some northern Democrats supporting it. I have heard from some people that they could come close to 2/3 passage in each house.
Doyle will probably not veto a bill if he knows it can be overridden. And if we, by some chance, get to 2/3, it doesn't matter what he does.

This reminds me of Missouri with a GOP legislature and a Dem governor who vetored concealed carry. I think they just passed another bill, and it is still sitting on the governors desk.
If he doesn't sign it within a certain amount of time, it will automatically become law.

It has always been my impression that Doyle was very pro gun control. It seems to me that it would be hypocritical of him to sign it...but then, he IS a Democrat.
It is a shame that that alleged felon Cvala was able to break the rules and prevent a vote on this a couple of years back...it had even passed the Dem controlled (at that time) Senate Judiciary committee on a 4-1 vote...with the 1 vote against being cast by Risser, the only one who didn't bother to attend the hearing where 300 braved the worst snowstorm of the year to testify in central Wisconsin.

The Pubbies have a near-veto-proof majority on the Assembly (House), and a 3-vote majority in the Senate. The RAT governor, Jim (Craps) Doyle, is a big gun-grabbing nut.
