The only difference between wearing or not wearing a helmet in highway motorcycle accident - is whether or not it's an open or closed coffin.

I vote for choice...my one an only experience wearing a helmet on a cross-country trip was that I wound up deaf for about 10 hours or so do to the exhaust noise (from a Thunderheader) resonating in my helmet for hours at a time. Never have had the problem on comparable rides without a helmet.
