he continued reading to a group of primary school children in Florida even after being informed of the first plane crashing into the World Trade Centre You mean he didn't stop reading and scream to the kids "My God, a plane has crashed in New York, run for your lives!"?

after being informed of the first plane crashing Not to mention that one plane could have just been an accident. It used to be normal for planes to give a buzz past the skyline and a poorly timed heart-attack could cause one crash.

I was watching FoxNews when the first plane hit the first building. I thought "this is not good", but I thought it was a bad accident and went on with what I was doing, keeping an ear out for further news. Then I heard the newscasters screaming, "Oh My God, a second plane hit the second building". Stopped what I was doing and watched in horror. Then I ran and got my husband who was outside. It took some time for us to fully realize and comprehend that terrorists had struck AMERICA! In addition, we had friends and relatives who worked down there. In short, I reacted just the President Bush did at first. Thanks to TV and the Internet, they can't re-write what really happened that day.

Apparently, he was supposed to stop and immediately return to Washington due to what was a presumed accident with one plane hitting in New York City (I guess if a plane hits somewhere, the Prez has to get involved according to the Independent.....)
Once a second plane hit, he knew it was no accident and shifted into gear.
This is hardly "slow-moving." It was EXACTLY WHAT HE SHOULD HAVE DONE.

I totally agree.....had Bush reacted to the news and quickly exited the school, it would have made me more nervous.
