This isn't a scientific poll but it sure is a GOOD BAROMETER about the level of support between Howard Dean and John F. Kerry. Here are the stats at Meetup.Com for the people who signed up:
Dean in 2004: 35,399
Kerry in 2004: 1,482
TOPICS: Politics/Elections
KEYWORDS: 2004; howarddean; johnkerry; meetupcom

This isn't just a small disparity. Dean is getting about 25 times the signups that Kerry is getting. This shows that the ACTIVIST Demmycrats overwhelmingly support Dean over Kerry. And remember, it is the leftwing ACTIVIST Demmycrats, who vote in large proportions in the primaries. This is definitely NOT good news for Kerry.

Dean's the Man!
Especially after that melt down with Russert.
To: Semper Paratus
Melt Down? I didn't see this. What happened?
Actually I hope Dean gets the nomination just because we can send Dan Quale in there and confuse everyone.
To: Semper Paratus
Beg your pardon, but what melt down????
To: PJ-Comix
Kerry is trying to be the new JFK.
Edwards is trying to be the new Clinton.
Dean is also trying to be the new Clinton, since he is a former governor from a small state.
Although he got creamed on MTP yesterday, he could be the contender. He is the only Washington "outsider". Kerry, Graham, Gephardt might be perceived as "old hack".
You know Hillary has her eye on Dean, for sure. If he looks too strong, nationally, she could be in big trouble for 2004 or 2008.

Dean couldn't say which dem candidate didn't have backbone.
Dean couldn't explain his medical deferment from the draft and skiing in Aspen.
Dean said he didn't know how large the US armed forces were but he said we won't be the best in the future.
Dean said he wants to give a tax cut to non-tax payers by repealing the tax cut to the tax payers.
To: TomGuy
Dean also seems very popular with the DUmmie types.

Those Dean answers will hurt Dean in the general election but among the leftwing types, it just gives him more credibiltiy.
BTW, if Dean actually does start winning Demmycrat primaries, watch for John F. Kerry to go absolutely ballistic. Despite the recently pledge by Demmycrats not to attack Demmycrats, Kerry will go nuclear on Dean.

Kerry will go nuclear on Dean. That would be worth firing up the popcorn popper for.
To: Semper Paratus
Oh, it will be entertaining all right. Kerry already HATES Dean because he considers him a usurper. But when Dean starts winning primaries, Kerry will go absolutely ballistic. Kerry definitely WON'T be a gracious loser.

Kerry definitely WON'T be a gracious loser. Not too mention Theresa. She is definitly the loose cannon of that duo.

"Dean said he didn't know how large the US armed forces were but he said we won't be the best in the future."
This is important:
Russert also quizzed Dean on how many troops (appx.) are currently in Afghanistan/Iraq.
Dean did not have even a ballpark figure and said something like, 'The commander-in-chief doesn't need to know such specific information. That's what his staff is for'.
Here's the killer. Dean then said, 'As President of the United States, having to know how many troops we have in Afghanistan/Iraq is like having to know who the Ambassador to Rwanda is'.
Russert was SHOCKED!!! He strongly disagreed, and pointed out just how stupid and wrong such an analogy was.
To: Semper Paratus
Theresa reminds me of Martha Mitchell. If Kerry wins the nomination, he is going to have to lock her in a closet til Election Day.

Dean is trying to be the new Carter.
He has a great shot at the nomination. We can only hope. It will lead to a 48-state sweep for Bush.

I hadn't thought of that. But after seeing his interview with Russert on MTP, I can see the connection:

The real killer was that Dean was complaining that we don't have enough troops in Afghanistan, but had no idea on how many we had or how many more we should have there. Dean looked like a complete fool.
On the medical deferment, I might give him a break. It all depends on if he fought to get the deferment, or if he just failed the physical because of his back problems. If he walked in looking like the Hunchback of Notre Dame, flunked the physical, and then left the exam skipping I would have some big problems. If the docs looked at some X-rays and said that he couldn't march with a 70 pound backpack, then it's not his fault. I don't know how complete Vietnam era physicals were.

When I took mine, if you were breathing you were fit for service. Standards seem to have varied in certain cases.

My dream is Howard Dean and Al Sharpton slugging it out for the nomination on the floor of the 2004 Democratic National Convention.
Don't laugh. It could happen!
