[history]
Gov. Gray Davis has portrayed himself as a victim of the national recession, noting that governors in other states also are facing monumental budget deficits and tough choices on taxes and spending.
But Davis is suffering far more.
The Democratic governor's approval rating had plummeted to 21 percent among likely voters in the latest poll, conducted by the Public Policy Institute of California. Recent public polls conducted in nine of the next 10 largest states (Florida apparently has a dearth of reliable pollsters) show other governors holding their own in comparison.

Kalifornistan can issue script. Davis can create his needed billions.
Forget that silly prohibition of such real money making in Article 1 section 10 paragraph 1; "No state shall...coin money...", and SCOTUS does not take our Constitution seriously anyway. (See the SCOTUS violation yesterday of the 14th Amendment, again) Kalifornistan don't need no stinkin' gold.
This script can pay state workers and interest payments on bonds. This script csan be used to pay state fees and taxes, after a period of one year, because the Politburo's Democratic controlled state needs the federal treasury cash this year. Businesses can deal with it. Like Hillary said, "(She) can't be responsible for under capitalized businesses (aka Republicans)."
Hell, I bet some more votes could even be bought with script.

The latest street-corner theory has Davis resigning if the recall qualifies for the ballot, pitching the state and all its challenges to fellow Democrat Lt. Gov. Cruz Bustamante. That way, Democrats keep the governorship without another election fight. Maybe.
This keeps coming up (apparently reporters don't read FR much, since it's been mentioned about a hundred times by now), so I've bookmarked this section of the California Election Code for easy regurgitation:
11302. If a vacancy occurs in an office after a recall petition is filed against the vacating officer, the recall election shall nevertheless proceed. The vacancy shall be filled as provided by law, but any person appointed to fill the vacancy shall hold office only until a successor is selected in accordance with Article 4 (commencing with Section 11360) or Article 5 (commencing with Section 11380), and the successor qualifies for that office.

after a recall petition is filed against the vacating officerHave we got it nailed down as to what this means exactly? Are we there yet or do we have to get a certain number of signatures to consider the petition as "FILED"?

You aren't the only one that notices that the anti recall people dither, change stratigies in mid arguement, and sometimes outright contradict themselves. Are these Democrates? (They're Democratic Talking Points, crafted for the doubters)
You're doing a great job exposing their lack of basis, and logic, keep up the good work. I notice there are a LOT less cynics and defeatists on FR in the past few weeks about this issue. The light of truth is shining brightly. Keep regurgitating.

Let him turn control over to another dimocrap. I am afraid that if a Republican won after a recall, he would be unable to turn the state around fast enough to satisfy the populace.
I think the job of fixing the screwed up state will take 10-15 years if done correctly (by a repubby) and it will never get fixed with a dim!
The people are going to have to BEG to get a repubby who will say it like it is and go forward from there.
Let a dim drive it further down to show that it was not a failed Gray Dimbulb, rather a totally failed dimocrat agenda!
