Of course GWB will not take any strong, positive steps to end affirmative action; Karl Rove hopes to increase Bush's share of the black vote from 8% to 8.5%. The same holds true for immigration reform and huge new socialistic programs for seniors. Bush et al. have taken pages from FDR and LBJ and will put the purchase of votes with taxpayer money ahead of the constitution and principle. I don't think this will pick up as many black, latino, and senior votes as much as it will suppress the conservative vote. Conservatives at some point will no longer be able to hold their nose and pull the R lever.

gain admission to a school based on merely being the "valedictorian of summer school"Ah, thanks for the explaination. Yes, the valedictorain of my class (eons before Bush's ruling) took the easier, more guaranteed route of *earning* that honor along with it's full 4 yr college scholarship through work program classes rather than the usual college bound senior level courses.

Thanks for the ping. Excellent and scary article. A perfect example of my favorite form of mathematical proof - reductio ad absurdum

WHEN IM PRESIDENT, WELL HAVE EXECUTIVE ORDERS to overcome any wrong thing the Supreme Court does tomorrow
. So Gephart won't whine if GWB gets a spine and does the same thing?

The Bar Exam, NCLEX and Board Exams for to practice law, nursing or medicine is the great equalizer. Every program black or white has those that make it through by their toenails. As you may well know it is how a doctor is trained during internship and residency that is the process to measure incompentence. When I was at Howard which is a bastion of liberalism, and victimhood for upper and middle class black folks the med school was hard on the students. I can't speak for today.

Sandra Day OConnor's rationale had no connection to her conclusion. This will be the source for endless suits from all sides for the rest of my lifetime.

Sandra Day OConnor's rationale had no connection to her conclusion A caller on Mark Levin's program today said that when she was in law school, no one wanted to read O'Connor's rulings, because their muddled, turgid reasoning made them totally unreadable.

This ruling has been parsed and analyzed and debated in detail in the media. All the parsing and analysis dances around the basic facts on the ruling.
1. You can consider race on an application.
2. If you consider race it is dicriminatory.
3. This ruling has legalized racial discrimintaion against whites and Asians.
4. This ruling will divide the races even futher.
5. Under the Civil Rights Act this ruling is illegal.
6. Activist judges may destroy our country.
PS
I am white and married to one of the protected minorites. She does not like this ruling either.
