THE STONES WERE SAVED AND PLACED IN A FREEZER AT THE RESIDENCE AND TWO NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE EMPLOYEES WERE SENT TO ASSESS THE DAMAGE AND RECORD THE SIZE. THE HAILSTONE MEASURED 6.5 INCHES IN DIAMETER WITH A CIRCUMFERENCE OF 17.3 INCHES.
THIS COMPARES TO THE POTTER NEBRASKA HAILSTONE ON JULY 12, 1928. THE POTTER NEBRASKA HAILSTONE WAS 5.4 INCHES IN DIAMETER AND WEIGHED APPROXIMATELY 1.5 POUNDS.

>THE HAIL HAD PENETRATED THE ROOF OF A HOME, LEAVING HOLES IN THE STRUCTURE LARGE ENOUGH TO CRAWL THROUGH
Is it normal hail,
or is it small ice comets
from the depths of space?

As a historical/philosophical side point, Aristotle noted--saying that any farmer knows--that larger hail falls faster than smaller hail. He was of course correct; larger hail achieves a higher terminal velocity as the weight increases as the cube of diameter while the surface area increases as the square.

There was a wild summer day in Winnipeg several decades ago.
First there were too consecutive thunderstorms that overpowered the drainage system. I lived in a residential area. I happened to glance out the window and saw a guy in a canoe whopping away as he paddled down the avenue.
Several hours later, after the water had drained there was a massive hail storm. In no time at all the ground was white as Christmas.
Broken windows, many dead cats and dogs. That year new car sales all went for specials.

I don't care about the hail, I just want to know when the value for pi was changed.
