If you believe heresy, there are exceptions.

Tell that to Jesus, who said even he was not "good."

Sorry... the Bible nowhere says that Scripture is the only source of Christian truth.

I believe the Bible. Your idea about the Bible being the only source of Christian truth is not in the Bible.

Not that it is critical, but your point is not very well taken given that a Jew is a Jew by virtue of his mother's blood.

So a Roman Catholic, in your mind, is bound to insert elements like that, contradictory to the Biblical text, if he films the life of Christ?

And if anyone disagrees with that decision, he is "Catholic bashing"?

Is that an ex cathedra ruling, that Mary stepped on a snake? Do you know when, where, and by which pope? And if not, is another reader of the Bible free to disagree with the insinuation without being accused of "Catholic bashing"? If not, why not? Or is it your idea that no one can disagree with any idea any Roman Catholic holds, ex cathedra or not, or else he is "Catholic bashing"?

Dan

Whaaaaa? Where do Catholics get these things?

Perhaps a better question is, where did Protestants lose these things?

"It is a sweet and pious belief that the infusion of Mary's soul was effected without original sin; so that in the very infusion of her soul she was also purified from original sin and adorned with God's gifts, receiving a pure soul infused by God; thus from the first moment she began to live she was free from all sin."
--Martin Luther (Sermon: "On the Day of the Conception of the Mother of God," December [?] 1527; from Hartmann Grisar, S.J., Luther, authorised translation from the German by E.M. Lamond; edited by Luigi Cappadelta, London: Kegan Paul, Trench, Trubner, first edition, 1915, Vol. IV [of 6], p. 238; taken from the German Werke, Erlangen, 1826-1868, edited by J.G. Plochmann and J.A. Irmischer, 2nd ed. edited by L. Enders, Frankfurt, 1862 ff., 67 volumes; citation from 152, p. 58)

"She is full of grace, proclaimed to be entirely without sin- something exceedingly great. For God's grace fills her with everything good and makes her devoid of all evil."
--Martin Luther (Personal {"Little"} Prayer Book, 1522)

I suggest you really get to know your New Testament better.

I guess the same could be said for ol' Martin Luther, eh?

She is the first to declare the child Jesus in her womb to be the Savior - her own savior - "God my Savior".

The canon of scripture is also an ex-cathedra ruling of MAN - not the bible - otherwise the apocryphal gospels could be considered scriptural.

I think Paul said, "ALL HAVE SINNED AND COME SHORT OF THE GLORY OF GOD".

well, my two infant children have not yet sinned, so I guess that scripture is in error or else you are misinterpreting it....

You're free to have your own thoughts, of course. There isn't a thing I said that even approached saying otherwise.

Hey, they believe man can forgive sins.

I really don't care what the Catholic "church" thinks.

GOD IS LIMITED BY "HIS" WORD. HE cannot go against HIS Word and just proclaim Mary was different because HE wanted to. If that were so ... then why wouldn't GOD just have proclaimed EVERYBODY different - and there would have been no need of a Savior ...?? Selah!!

Wow, I guess David didn't realize he was a perfect little boy when he said he was shapen in iniquity. Man David was stupid.

As Jesus walked sinless in this world, surrounded by the sin of us all, so he developed in a not perfect body of Mary ... after all, the molecules are without sin and since Jesus in embryo age built His own placenta that protected Him from tissue rejection, He remained without sin's taint even if Mary's figurement was not sinless. The placenta that Jesus made for His own life in Mary's womb allowed only molecular exchanges between He and His earthly Mother. His blood remained separate from her blood.

Remember...there was no Canon of Scripture until 327 A.D.

Bingo! So when someone asks "Why do you believe the Bible is true?", can you answer "because the Bible says so?" Well no, that's ridiculous, because how do know whether anything it says is true? If you answer "Because the Holy Spirit tells me, pastor tells me, etc," then you've just admitted that there are authorities on religion beside the Bible - there are teachers and interpreters and translators and historians. The Catholic Church is an institution of these; the Elm Street Reformed New Traditional Church is too, but without the self-awareness. And this kind of blind spot makes for shoddy scholarship and exegesis.

Hey, they believe man can forgive sins.

No, they don't.

I really don't care what the Catholic "church" thinks.

That's nice. I don't care that you don't care.

The thread is about a devout Catholic who is making a film based on his beliefs.

I, for one, cannot wait to see it.

Mary did not have any foreknowledge - except for that which was spoken to her by Gabriel. She was a very young, sheltered girl. The awesomeness of what Jesus was to do was completely out of her realm of reality.

When Jesus died on the cross - Mary was grief stricken - if she had been informed about Jesus - she would have been thrilled - not grief stricken.

Your statements are not related to the Bible.
