I really don't know. I thought it was reported as fact that it was Mary; people who've seen it say it's not... I've just resigned myself to wait. If it's Mary, made to usurp Genesis 3:15, what an offensive perversion. If Jesus... interesting symbol.

If it is Mary, I agree that that is a problem. It won't be enough to make me stop seeing the movie for a 1 second clip that most people won't even understand.
But, I won't be happy about it if it is Mary, despite some Catholic bibles saying "she" instead of he. Those translations are heretical and despite my understanding of why Gibson may have Mary doing it simply due to those translations, it still is factually inaccurate and a perversion of the text.

Cite the Scripture that even HINTS that Mary defrauded Joseph after marriage.Mary did not ``defraud'' Joseph, that is ridiculous.

Cite the law that you are saying God violated, exact quotation and source.\I don't think God violated any law.

Cite the law that you are saying God violated, exact quotation and source.\The situation of Mary and Joseph is one with no parallels. Can you agree with that? No one else was impregnated by by the Holy Spirit with the Son of God. So it is not profitable to compare it to normal circumstance. Normally a woman who was pregnant by someone besides her fiancee would be guilty of a sin, but not in this circumstance, because this was God's plan. Normally, a woman is supposed to have relations with her husband, but not in this case, because it was God's will. To try to compare it to normal circumstance is impossible, but if you try, at least be consistent.
Mary was made pregnant by the Holy Spirit, so if she was ever made pregnant by someone else, it would be adultery. Jospeh was her earthly husband, not her physical one. This should be easy to understand since it is the same with Jesus- Joseph was Jesus' earthly Father- but not his physical one. Just as Joseph fulfilled the role od Jesus' father in all regards except he physically wasn't his father, the same applies to Joseph' relationship with Mary. if one isn't hard to understand, why should the other be?

Do you really believe that God the Father would let his son, the holy of holies, be born to a woman with original sin?
I once heard of a jewish lady who converted to catholicism, relay something that led to her conversion. As you know, in the old testament, the ark of the covenant was treated with great reverence, and placed in a tent where only certain men could visit, after they had bathed and performed certain rituals. I believe blood was also splashed onto the altar in the tent where the ark was kept. Now with that in mind, and these were just two pieces of stone, do you think that the Lord would permit just any old woman to give birth to Son of God. I mean really, its just common sense.

Mary did not ``defraud'' Joseph, that is ridiculousThen I don't know what you're arguing about. So you agree with Scripture that Mary had sex with, and children by, Joseph, after Jesus' birth. Good. That's one.

I suppose when you're making it up, as Lewis once said, it can all be very simple. Dealing with facts can be more complex.
You argue out of both sides of your mouth, so I'm not sure what your issue is. If you're interested in what Scripture says, while it may or may not be simple, it certainly is plain: Mary conceived Jesus by the Holy Spirit, while she was a virgin. She married Joseph before Jesus' birth. After His birth, being a godly wife, she had sex with Joseph, and children by him. That is what Scripture teaches.

To: nickcarraway
Barring successive virgin conceptions, that's pretty much the only way Mary could bear sons and daughters (see #497) and not sin against God as a wife (1 Corinthians 7).
Not hidden knowledge. Your mom or dad should have already told you about this.

Everything in the Temple was pointing to Christ (a la the Book of Hebrews). This is why the stones were treated with reverance.
However, there is nothing to suggest that any person in the Bible was sinless other than Christ.

Is there any Scriptural reference to Mary having sinned?

She is a human being. THere is no need for Scripture to prove she sinned, as we ALL HAVE FALLEN SHORT OF THE GLORY OF GOD AND ALL HAVE THE CURSE OF ADAM IN US, including Mary.

There's no reference to Luke having sinned either (but he did!)
