Ok... If your girlfriend at Liberty U, who you just hold hands with, just learned that her relative passed away are you allowed to hug her? You are hugging her because you like her, and to console her, so there are mixed reasons here. It goes beyond hand holding, what if you kissed her forehead as tears were going down her cheeks? Oh... there has to be a rules enforcement court to settle this all.
Again, Jesus criticized people like Falwell. He is a pharisee. These rules are not about legalisms, not the spirit of the church.
No sex, no drugs, no booze, is quite acceptable and understandable at a bible college.
Going to a coffee shop, sipping herbal tea, until 2am to discuss the bible with a group of fellow students on a Friday night is a major infraction at his school.

I have mocked the hand-holding only rule.
I even have done something un-precedented and invoked the name of the pharisees like you did.
