How do you suppose the Pentecostals will respond. I was watching the 700 Club the other day and Pat Robertson made it clear he's not a fan of the Catholic Church.

I don't know. I have nothing against the Pentecosta's, but I don't care either since I'm not Pentecostal.

I am a Pentecostal and I plan to see the movie to decide for myself.
However if it is faithful to the gospels then denomination really doesn't matter does it?

I'm not a fan of Pat Robertson, either.

I think it's about time for all people of faith - whether they are one kind of Christian or another, faithful Jews and Hindus - monotheists of all kinds - to realize that there is one enemy. Not people who worship the Supreme Lord in another kind of building, or on another day, or with somewhat different rituals, or those who call Him by different names.

The enemy is those who hate the very thought of the Supreme Being, who envy His supremacy, who hate the 10 Commandments, who hate morality, who hate the eternal soul. Then, after they are defeated, we can have theological debates.

My dad is a pentecostal preacher. While he's not particularly a fan of the catholic church, I'm sure he would enjoy watching this movie from the description above. As long as it follows the bible accurately, I don't see why any christian would be upset over it. Now, if it makes controversial interpetations of parts of the bible there may be some upset with just about any non-catholic christian sect, but it sounds like it's worth seeing to me and worth recommending to my dad to see when it hits the theaters.

How could it be? Catholic doctrine stands in direct opposition to Scripture. This guy has done his homework. Catholics won't like it, but the erroneous teachings are blatant.

As I understand it, neither is Mel, at least not the current church hierarchy. He particularly rejects the PC revisionism of Vatican 2. I don't know alot about the particulars of Vatican 2, just the surface things like no more latin mass and fish on Friday isn't required anymore. I understand that there's a lot more substantive theological disruption to what traditionalists feel was the core of being a Catholic. It's hard to get a good grip on things like this. The Vatican (particularly the Jesuits) invented spin. Doesn't make them good or bad, just makes it hard to ferret out the different pieces of what's really going on.

As a completely seperate thought, wouldn't you love to roam freely through the Vatican, particularly the libraries (with the appropriate translators) and just see what there really is to see there?

Who cares what Pat Robertson thinks?

He's been a public apologist for the forced abortion policy of Red China - so any opinion he might have about the Catholic Church is absolutely meaningless.

Who cares? For someone who is not a fan of the Church, I watched him on news film a couple of years ago when the Pope was arriving in Baltimore and Pat Robertson was straining in the red-carpet crowd to get close to the Pope. He is critical of the Church when it enhances his ministry but fawning when he needs to be recognized.

If it is close to the actual scriptures, then I think we pentacostals can manage it okay (smile).

I'm a Christian who is a member of a Pentacostal church. I'm also a huge fan of Mel Gibson (especially BraveHeart). I fully intend to see this film. I hope and pray the it leads others to the Lord.

I attend a Pentecostal church and I am jazzed that this movie was made. I cannot wait to see it. Whatever doctrinal quibbles I may have with Catholicism are minor compared to our mutual worship of Christ.

As a 'Pentecostal' I have issues with the Catholic Church.

That does not mean I hate Catholics or think they are all going to hell. I take issue, just as I do with half the Methodist.

I also can't wait to see this film, some of the greatest art of all time is in honor of G_d.

They will respond like Christians...the story is the same, Catholic/Evangelical.

OK, the Gospels are the same in the Catholic Bible as they are in the Pentecostal Bible ... in fact most hard core died-in-the-wool Pentecostals prefer the King James. As long as the story is true to the gospels it will transcend denomination or affiliation.
