The trick here is so obvious that I shouldn't even have to mention it: The actual story is in the second paragraph, so they moved a far more minor tidbit to the top and based the headline on that tidbit, so as to hide the facts: The RATS are practically broke when in comes to 2004 campaign funds, compared to the GOP.

"The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee had more than $2 million in the bank and $4.4 million in debt" Cool. Tough to get much credit with them numbers. Boy, what a difference being out of power makes. Hehehehe....

The Senate's majority Republicans have a slight edge over their Democratic counterparts...raising about $14.1 million...compared to about $10.6 million for the Democrats.

The Republican National Committee estimated it raised about $25.5 million from April through June What is the AP talking about? Last month's FEC filing shows the RNC raised $21 million in May. So what does "from April through June" mean? All three months? The RNC raised a lot more than $25.5 million in that time period.
