This article was long. But I read most of it. There is enough in this 'balanced' article to turn off most single-issue prolifers. And there are lots of those here on FR.

One more thing... the constant use of the word 'consiglieri' IMO is the authors way of slipping in the assertion that the Bush administration is mafia-like... I wouldn't call that very 'balanced'..

In terms of trust and loyalty, Bush views Gonzales as every bit the consiglieri.

The article points out that hard right conservatives over-reacted to Gonzales' decision in the parental consent case.

Tom Phillips, who is the single most conservative Chief Justice in the history of Texas (he wrote the majority opinion in Lawrence v. Texas) says that Gonzales is a strict constructionist, and that's good enough for me.
