"I don't see any issue that is potentially as dangerous to our sovereignty and provides tremendous opportunity for terrorism in this country than this form of documentation,'' said Rep. Elton Gallegly, R-Calif., at a recent congressional hearing. SB 60 is more dangerous than last year's AB 60, which Gray Davis vetoed for its lack of security. In this year's SB 60, the aliens don't even have to be in the process of filing papers to legalize their presence. I hope Gray Davis is at least as sane this year as he was last year.

I am utterly ashamed that my state of Tennessee has helped set a precedent that the tax-payers of California will regret. It's not just Tennessee, states all over the country are now considering this total, complete insanity. This bull sh*t is so out of control.........
Mexico cares less about it's poor citizens when they are in Mexico, but when the crash our borders and enter the US illegally, all of a sudden Mexico is totally concerned with their rights.
As all of our polticians and so-called leaders stand gawking at this lunacy.

"Sheesh, what IS it about liberals? Their brains just don't function..."
I can see why you say this, but I maintain that their brains DO function properly. The mission is Operation Destroy America, and all efforts are directed toward that end.
One of the reasons (supposedly) we're fighting the Arab terrorists is because they want to destroy our way of life. How ironic. Barely a finger is lifted when the enemy from within works to destroy our way of life.

If Davis signs this bill it will truly be "Bye, Bye Gray". Most Dems I know are as fed up as I am about the illegal problem.

what about motor-voter?
That's exactly the point. Say hello to turbo-charged voter fraud.

The drivers license will enable the illegals to cross the border legally. When this bill passes in California, there will be no borders.

If we decide this is inevitable, we should move to plan B: make it law that drivers licenses aren't proof enough for voting. Then we might actually have an improvement, since a getting a dl will force them to get collision insurance. I have heard that there is a real problem with reckless, uninsured, non-licensed illegals smashing cars and not being able to repay the victim.
To: hole_n_one
Unbelievable! That moron said that now that the illegals will get driver's licenses they'll go out and buy auto liability insurance! Fat f*****g chance!

"...and if this is the case, then our nation is done. Period."
Yes, it is. But I refuse to become a Mexican. I will die an American, clasping to my breast the memory of our once great nation, content in the knowledge that I did not surrender. I will fight the good fight, and when I give up the ghost, I will still be an American.

They will buy the insurance for three months and then drop it. Also, you don't have to own a car to get a drivers license. All you would have to do is borrow a car of someone that has insurance.

My point is why would someone who is illegal in the first place shell out some money to comply with another legality? They wouldn't.
To: ought-six
The benefits of a drivers license are many. Especially since we use the drivers license as a form of identity as an American.
I agree with you that many won't get a license. However, I think a huge number will. Pressure will be placed on them to vote illegally and they will.
I just can't believe our country has stooped so low for a measley vote.

"But sir, you were on the sidewalk." ......
And what happens when an illegal causes an accident? Nothing to him, but the insured driver gets his rates increased by 30%.
California is sooooo screwed up.

I heard the hearing live.... incredible stuff. You can't tell the Dems from the traitorous Mexican colonists in the Assembly. I don't think even Davis is dumb enough to sign this poison pill, or any of the other malarkey that has to do with those phony Mexican ID cards. If he does, he's gone for sure.

I hate all those things too. :( However, to be honest, I lived in Taiwan for 10 years. When things were in English there, I was happy. But I don't think they felt their culture was in jeopardy - WE weren't voting.

"
Dear Assemblyman Cedillo:I am a resident of your district, a taxpayer and a voter.
I have a hobby of collecting drivers licenses from around the world.
On some of my trips abroad, in some countries, all I had to do was pony up some cash (such as in Mozambique and Tuvalu and Bolivia), and not even as a legal or permanent resident, they nevertheless took my picture and issued me a drivers license on the spot, as long as I paid the fees. (In East Timor, I had to 'baksheesh' the official a little).
Anyway, Assemblyman, one country I really want to get a license from is Mexico. I'll be visiting there in a few weeks. However, well, I am not a legal resident there, I don't have or will not have or apply for a visa or permission to stay in Mexico, nevertheless I would like your strong help to support me so I can obtain a Baja California drivers license for me collection (which I am told might be difficult). Who cares about their stupid rules? We're Americans. At any rate, sir, can you implore the Consulate of Mexico here to waive the legalities and have them grant me a Mexican drivers license, as well as work permit to work in Mexico, and also authorization to be able to invest and buy properties in Mexico outside of the tourist zones? I really need your help to ask the Mexican government to consider my case.
Sincerely,
(whomever would write such a letter)"
