For many people who have abandoned the faiths of their ancestors, Protestant, Catholic and Jew , socialism has become a religion, with Communism being the most radical form.
With communism discredited, the still have the "softer" form to fall back on. And they will never, never admit how horrible
Communism was, because they have the same attitudes toward
traditional western civilization. That is why the socialists in Europe are trying to expunge all reference to the role of Christianity in the shaping of European civilization. It is not because it offends the Muslims; it is because they hate Christianity.
