Automatic Weapon And Device Found In Car At Rental Facility Near LaGuardia

(LaGuardia-WABC, July 3, 2003) — An automatic weapon and some sort of device have been found in a car at a rental facility near LaGuardia Airport.

The weapon and device were discovered in the car parked at National Car Rental at 95-10 Ditmars Boulevard just before 11 a.m. The automatic weapon and the device were left visible in the front seat. The car may have been recently returned to the rental facility. The device may be flares wrapped together, and the NYPD's bomb squad was called in to investigate it.

Authorities have evacuated the National Car Rental facility and condoned off the block. No arrests have been made.

Fox is reading an AP report which stats that a car was returned to the garage, and when cleaners opened the trunk, they found an automatic weapon with some sort of device attached to it.

Probably one of those evil Flash Suppressors, or even worse, a Bayonet Lug...

NYPD says it's found an abandoned car with at least one automatic weapons and a box with wires and a timing device.

CNN reporting that the car contains "a suspicious device" and the officials will not tell reporter what it is. [Not sure if this is the automatic rifle or something else. Reporter seems to imply this is in addition to the rifle.]

The marines in Egypt called the locals hodis (hold-the-door). The word took on the general perception of the Egyptians which did amazingly stupid things (like using your teeth to chew threw live cable to hook up a work-light.) They basically screwed up everything they were supposed to do, or just did a generally piss poor job.

Like leaving an automatic rifle in the trunk of your rental -- not too smart.
