G.I. Forum was begun by returning veterans after WWII to fight discrimination against Mexican Americans. I believe one of their first "hot button" issues was the refusal of many towns in South Texas to allow the bodies of Mexican American veterans (those either returned from overseas of expiring in State side hospitals) to be interred in the town's "Anglo" cemetary.

Half a century on G.I. Forum is yet another sad example of the degeneration of a group founded for wholly laudable goals into just another left-wing agit-prop organization. Lasy month we read about the YWCA, this month G.I. Forum.

The GI forum is a left wing racist group here in Corpus. Actually there are two chambers in Corpus. In addition to the reguular Chamber of Commerce there is an Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.

During one of the Bush/Algore protests after the 2000 elections here in Portland, one of the people in our group was approached by one of the scruffies from the Demoncratic/Leftoid side who showed up (in rather small numbers) to counter protest. He (or it - you never know with Demoncrats) asked how much we were being paid. The person to whom he was talking was puzzled, and said "nothing", and then asked how much the querying Demoncrat was getting paid - and he/she/it actually revealed the hourly wage it was getting paid to come down and counter-protest!!!

We were dumbfounded, talking about this among ourselves afterwards. Apparently the Lieberal had just tacitly assumed we were getting paid - it wasn't even trying to bait or insult us - and it wasn't in the least bit ashamed of revealing its income!!!

Frankly, I'm still amazed at this... I wouldn't put *anything* past a Demoncrat, but on the other hand I can't believe *anyone* would pay some of the specimens we saw at the protests *anything* for *any* reason... And the way this critter just blandly admitted it, without even thinking twice, makes me wonder exactly how naive we really are, about what's going on, and how the Left operates...
