With Californians increasingly disgusted over lawmakers' inability to solve the state's record-setting budget crisis, a million-dollar campaign was launched Thursday to place before voters a measure to make it easier for the Legislature to pass a budget -- and raise taxes.

"Passage of the blank-check initiative would be a license for Sacramento politicians to raise tax after tax," said Larry McCarthy, president of the California Taxpayers Association.

"It would be better for taxpayers if the politicians started cutting the fat and making better use of the taxes we already pay."

Yep, the gimmee crowd is really frustrated these days. It is simply infuriating when you can't spend other people's money when you want to, where you want to, why you want to, and in what amounts you want to.

Still not a word about reviving Proposition 187. The illegal aliens cost California taxpayers BILLIONS of dollars, yet not a word about cutting those services. If the 55% is passed, white flight from California will increase, that's for sure.

The proposed constitutional amendment would lower the threshold for passing a budget from a supermajority to a 55 percent majority of each legislative house.

Uh..No Thanks, just the same. As long as women can vote and New Yorkers are free to live in California without restriction, the supermajority requirement is the only protection CA has from the super stupid.

They must be joking....this will not pass.

That's just the problem, they do think it will or should pass.
The State Capital at Sacramento, as it's politically constituted now, may as well change its name to "The Kremlin".
