The conventions lay out the legal obligations of an occupying power as well as the rules of war and treatment of prisoners

How come they never whine about such things against China (for oppressing, occupying Tibet)?

Because China will make them pay for their stand on their "principles". They only protest where there's no risk to their well being and where their whining gets attention.

The head of the group's Iraq investigation team, Mike Townsley, said the US-led occupation authority was breaching the Geneva Conventions "by failing in its responsibility to ensure the public health of the Iraqi people".

Funny, I don't remember reading any similar complaints from greenpeace while Saddam was in charge.

I would order the Marines to escort them to the border with Syria and if they didn't leave, I would order them to be treated as enemy combatants.
