I grew up in the thirties and forties and it was great on the Fourth of July.
Bonfires, sparklers, and all those little red firecrackers. Everyone had them,we all had fun,and I don't recall anyone getting hurt.
If anyone did get hurt there would not have been any lawsuits, but an admonition from our parents to be more careful next time.

I'm living in my parents house(dad passed away, mom has Alzheimers), and I sat outside on the 4th, looking at where my dad and I would light them off every year. Some people are so mean spirited, that I think it causes them physical pain to see people have fun.

I grew up in the 50s and 60s and someone was always getting a finger or hand blown off at New Years or the 4th of July. That is not a reason for more laws, but for better teaching of Darwinism in the schools.
