I always wondered about the how the economy of a theocratic nation functioned. Plus I never see an Iranian mullah who is skinny.

An unfortunate statement. Per capita manages to hide the real disparity between the rulers and the populace. The standard of living for the public, from everything I've heard, is a drop much, much larger than 7%.
