President Bush made remarks on early childhood development to a crowd after touring the Head Start Center at Highland Park Elementary School today in Landover, Maryland.
Then he left for Africa today where he will visit Senegal, South Africa, Botswana, Uganda, and Nigeria as part of a tour of Africa that will focus on AIDS, Liberia and the war on terrorism.

QUOTE OF THE DAY: Now look, as I mentioned before, the No Child Left Behind Act says every child can learn. We're going to have high standards. We're going to trust the local people to develop the curriculum, but in return for federal money we want you to measure to tell us whether or not children are learning to read and write.

And one more picture I would like to post...
Irish singer and activist U2's Bono hailed US President George W. Bush for his "sincerity" in wanting to help Africa and criticized the US Congress for what he was were moves to undermine those efforts.

You know something strange is going on in the world when both Bob Geldof and Bono praise the President of the United States... ;)

Heard a very good radio program (On npr actually) about what "W" was hoping to accomplish on the African trip. Very positive and supportive. (surprise)
Rewarding the good guys (those who were successful), looking for ways to help (continueing the communication lines he has established already with African leaders visits to the WH), opening some trade routes (raw materials: gas, oil etc).
