Just as people should suffer the consequences of stupid voting choices, people should also suffer the consequences of the governmental mechanisms they have voted to put in place.

This is the logical flaw in JG's argument. Not only did Californians choose a boob for a governor, they have chosen "a government by petition" as a way of governing, for good or ill.

You, aardvark1, have immediately zeroed in on the prime point of the whole discussion!!!

The whole recall, referrendum and ballot initiative process was borrowed from the "Old Country," Switzerland, to be exact and is the epitome of Direct Democracy. In large CAPITAL LETTERS, across the bottom of the CA flag are emblazoned the words "CALIFORNIA REPUBLIC."

With the ungovernable aspects of CA clearly in view for all to see which have taken all responsibility from elected representatives excepting the most mundane decisions, we might just as well take some Pinking Shears to the word "REPUBLIC" on said flag and sew in the replacement word of "DEMOCRAZY!"

Adopting ideas from the socialistic regimes of old Europe have bourne nuthing but fruits and nuts in CA!!!

We need our American REPUBLIC back again in CA.
