So now, instead of being a canadian liberal socialist, he's an american liberal socialist. Don't see that as much of an improvement.

Mr. Jennings, who will retain his Canadian citizenship, quickly added: Sorry Peter, but I question the sincerity of anyone who chooses to retain citizenship in another country.
Makes you a self-defined second class citizen, in my book.
Forever a continuing loser.
To put it another way, don't do us any frippimg favors, you moron.

I worked with Pete at ABC News around 1967 or 68. Back then he was a total, flaming a$$hole.
Hmmm... some things never change :)

So Jennings fibally made a decision that I made right after high school. Why did he wait until the end of his career? Did his accountant tell him it would be a good move?

He wouldn't need it, though. The Canadian health care system is a paragon of excellence: competent, fast, and friendly. Thank Marx that they had the good sense to implement socialized medicine.

"The Canadian health care system is a paragon of excellence: competent, fast, and friendly"If that is so, why do the Canadian people come to Spokane, WA to get heart surgeries and other major medical care?
I understand that everyday care is good and prescriptions cost very little, but as far as major medical needs, I have heard it is terrible. Also a lot of Canadian doctors are coming to the states to set up practice.

The broadcaster's formal pledge of allegiance came during a regularly scheduled citizenship ceremony on May 30 at a government office in Lower Manhattan. His first and last time.
"The Immigration Service said, 'Well, we just thought that if you really wanted to tell your friends first, we'd keep this a little bit quiet,' " Mr. Jennings recalled.
First they sent the visa to the 9/11 terrorist AFTER 9/11, now this. No wonder they want to keep quiet about it.

The US should insist on anyone being naturalized to renounce their previous citizenship or deny them.

I've always made clear my love for America Peter, you've always made clear you loathe and despise America.
You heap your dripping scorn on all things American, Peter.
You're simply crap in a suit.

"Now, as a new American, Jennings said he will feel more free to criticize his country" As if he already hasnt done more in that area?

"Now, as a new American, Jennings said he will feel more free to criticize his country"They must mean that he'll criticize Canada now, because he was never restrained in the slightest in criticizing America when he was a Canadian.
