They just do it within the parameters of what's acceptable conduct on national news programs. You obviously think his grade school tirade should have been acceptable. Perhaps you should start your own news organization.

MSNBC knew what they were getting when they hired Dr. Savage. They were after ratings one way or another. I don't consider what Savage does news. Commentary. But not news.

You are correct. They knew what they were getting. They expected him to be "outrageous." They expected him to go right up to the line of their acceptable conduct and they moved the line farther over for him then they've ever done for anyone. But in their opinion, he still crossed it. And he got fired. QID

IMHO Savage deserves it because he always cuts off callers rather than debate with them. It seems as though the caller was starting to talk about something else (maybe) but Savage refused to listen. Rush Limbaugh or Sean Hannity are much more willing to argue w/the callers.

Weiner himself has admitted it on his show that the reason he rarely debates with the callers is that he wants to create a "safe haven" for his listeners/viewers where they don't have to be exposed to liberal crap.

This attitude is rather patronizing and also the reason that he cuts people off so readily.

As far as the TV show went, it seemed doomed to failure and I can't believe that Weiner was foolish enough to even consent to such a terrible timeslot where everyone would be counting the seconds until the other shoe fell.

It's too bad he even bothers to take calls. I think his solo segments are highly entertaining and usually right. I also like the fact that he's willing to talk about nonpolitical subjects on the show. But his namecalling and superiority are unattractive however.

In my opinion, Savage is in the wrong business. He should've been a comedian or a writer.
