ROCKFORD -- The new choir director was one of the best things that ever happened to Holy Family Catholic Church. Everyone said so.
He brought together businessmen and blue-collar workers, students and senior citizens to make music that lifted the whole parish--until last month, when church officials learned he is gay.

And I hasten to add that my uncle (recently RIP) had three children (he started late) and my wife and I enjoy 10 children, 9 of which are still here on Earth.

what would the church do with someone who is quietly snorting cocaine or using herione. OR what would a church do with someone reading an adult magazine during church services and gatherings.

You talking about church employees or members of the congregation?

Depends on whether the person was in a position of authority or laity. I'm not sure what the Catholic church would do specifically, but Christianity in general holds those who have positions more accountable because of the "reach" of their position. It's a principle that the book of Timothy lays out well.

It's just this simple:
Just ask any gay organization whether they would employ anyone who believes that being gay is a choice or who is against gay marriage.
Of course they wouldn't.
Just a bunch of flippin' whinners.
End of story.

Suppose the choir director were shacking up with his girl friend?
Same reaction. Adios, muchacho.

"what would the church do with someone who is quietly snorting cocaine or using herione. OR what would a church do with someone reading an adult magazine during church services and gatherings."
If the person were 'quietly' snorting, and members of the congregation found out, then they should do as the bible says and confront a brother or sister in sin (with love). If he/she won't repent after a couple of confrontations, then out of the church they go.
If someone were sitting in a pew reading an adult magazine at MY church, I'd march up to him/her, rip it out of his/her hands, and tear it into tiny shreds right there. Then I'd tell him/her to clean up that trash and walk back to my seat.

Hey now, as a musician I would remind you that interior decorators, theater actors, hairstylists and drapers should always come to mind before us. Hell, thrown in fashion designers and bodybuilders, and we're probably not even in the top 10! Restaurant servers, retail clerks, customer service reps, male receptionist, female gym teachers, female athletes

"And what principle would that be..."
For a church, the Bible would be the standard.
Homersexuals say we are picking on them.... Why is their sin any worse that other sins.....we let adulterers be leaders and members. And they are right.
God set high standards but also gives us grace.....you are forgiven, now go and sin no more.
