In house counsel reports to..Doug! Will Doug ask Doug to see his notes? Will Doug fire Doug? Stay tuned ;-)

Glad to see this story has been debunked. I never doubted my President for a second.
He is an honorable man who has earned my respect and trust. I hope we find out all there is to know regarding this Wilkinson skank.
To: Doug Thompson
Thanks much for posting this. We were going nuts trying to locate this guy and sources were turning up empty.

He's going apeshirt over at DU and calling Mike Malloy.
They are now working out a scenario where Rove planted Wilkerson 20 years ago...LOL!
To: Sloth
There is another possibility here. Doug may be conveniently getting rid of his fabricated source, now that it's been challenged. He knows nobody else can track down this fictitious person, so he makes that very fact the basis of his attempt at damage control.Yeppers. He's gonna find Wilkinson and make him pay for this con, just like OJ is still out there trying to find Nicole's killer.
To: Mo1
I think you may be right. I suspected the guy had given a phoney name! How he ever got access to the places he did really makes me wonder.

Busted! So...is it premature to turn out the lights on this story and anything else that comes from Doug?
To: habs4ever
Well, I tuned him out after the last episode. This one only confirmed my decision.

This whole deal smells more than yesterday! Twenty years and counting!
Whatever happened to double sourcing especially some guy claiming to be in a meeting with the President -- twice no less!

Have you not noticed this? To be honest, yes. As I stated there are idiots, and not only the n00bs, some long timers. You have to realize the dynamics that there are only so many people (an extremely small percentage) that would have to wherewithal to dedicate themselves to misinformation on FR.
Also, you can't possibly contend that Rush and Hannity et al are operating on this FR misinformation, or that such even plays more than a barely perceptable role in their worldview. That's absurd.
It's okay to be freaky (I ceratainly am at times) but there's a point where you need to give it a break. Seriously.
It's not all a big misunderstanding. Many of us are very pissed off and feel betrayed and ignored. Please understand this.

I will track this guy down.Maybe you should have checked him out first -- like anytime in the last 20 years. Just a little late now to be outraged at the simple and easy con he pulled on you.

bravo, doug. how refreshing to find a journalist who actually admits his mistakes and goes on the record to correct them. It hurts to be duped, and it hurts even more to admit publicly that you were a sucker. But the absolute worst is being duped, knowing that you've been duped, and then trying to cover it up to the world at large. Because then, besides the embarrassment, you also have to live with the thought that you're a fraud. So, i'm very pleased to read your retraction.
To: PhiKapMom
I figger Doug has know his source even longer ;-)

So, Pitt registered truthout.org on September10, 2001, the day before the WTC and Pentagon were hit and thousands died, uses the site to try to damage a US president, and then goes on to coauthor a book by a former UNSCOM inspector who's been carrying Iraqi water since at least 1999, a perv inspector who has admittedly accepted money from an Iraqi-American who happens to be one of Hussein's supporters? And then Pitt puts all of his efforts into opposing the strikes on both Afghanistan and Iraq? Ritter has his handler; maybe Ritter is Pitt's handler. Wonder how he gets paid?

We were all to believe Doug Thompson yesterday when he claimed Wilkinson was a very reliable source as he called the president a liar. Today we are to believe this phantom source "Wilkinson" was a fraud because an un-named source says he is. I'm not convinced Wilkinson ever existed and so far Mr. Thompson hasn't provided anything to prove that he did. 20 years of using him as a source and NO way to get in touch with him????? I was born at night... BUT NOT LAST NIGHT ...and today Thompson asks us to believe additional unnamed sources.
[Thompson]:Today, a White House source I know and trust said visitor logs don't have any record of anyone named Terrance J. Wilkinson ever being present at a meeting with the President. Then a CIA source I trust said the agency had no record of a contract consultant with that name. "Nobody, and I mean nobody, has ever heard of this guy," my source said.
LOL! Does this unnamed source thing ever end?

"How so? The only people he was trying to hurt were Republicans, he wasn't trying to help al-Qaeda." At this stage, that which hurts Republicans helps Democrats...and helps al-Qaeda.
You don't think al-Qaeda wouldn't like to see the Democrats back in power? Clinton never laid a hand on them.
And you don't think this generation of Democrats wouldn't sell out the country in order to re-gain power? In their heart of hearts, they're hoping for another 9/11. It would not be a surprise me if some liberals wouldn't actively assist terrorists to achieve it...
Yes, it's painting with a broad brush. And, yes, it is demeaning to a lot of patriotic liberals (there are some, y'know). But some of the Democrats are capable of this kind of treason. Indeed, they've already proven it, haven't they...???

Yup, Just look at what has gone on here, We get a bogus story that gets repeated in Japan and God knows where else, a retraction is posted that maybe 10% of those who read it will ever see, Next week we will see an editorial using the story from Japan. The damage is done and the people who publish this stuff know it all too well
