After the campaign, the info is available from the FEC. FOI Act requires it. If you've given before, it's a matter of public record. Bush is just making it easier to get to the information. It's not consequential.

It's not consequential. If that's true, then that's ok. Except, I give 199 to campaigns all the time and yet I am not in the FEC online databases.
So, I don't mind if someone can go down to the FEC and look me up, but the internet thing bothers me.

It is consequential to those who want to keep their lives private. Some folks go to great lengths to remain anonymous by paying for unlisted phone numbers and filling out all the paperwork to keep credit reports unavailable to unauthorized parties. Having a name and address readily available via a political contribution website discourages donations from these people.
Oh well. I suppose military members don't donate often to political candidates.
