Why? Woodward asked the same question, why has nothing happened? Opinions?

Gitmo. And the various places where several hundred who were rounded up in the days and months following 9-11-2001 are held. It takes time to infiltrate more Islamikazies.

I think there was, and he was concerned about the size of the Colorado fire and how so much of Oregon caught fire in one weekend.

The balloons actually killed a someone. A family was having a picnic and a kid found one of the balloons and set it off.

This was not reported during the war, since we didn't want the Japanese to know they worked. The press was once on our side.

This was on the history channel..

Hey Al Qaeda didn't have to do a thing to assure the destruction of the Western forests. The envirowackos, especially the Sierra Club morons, have done the job already. Forest fires are burning now because of their insistence on not allowing the clearing of dead brush, trees and debris from the forests. The Sierra Club also sued the Forest Service to make sure the poor little bark beetle would not be sprayed and eliminated. The beetles have killed thousands of acres of pine trees in the West. The enviros are truly wacko and dangerous.

We need to take the battle to them.

Absolutely correct. For as long as there has been warfare, the surest method to lose, and lose decisevly, is to fight on the defensive. Anyone who proposes fighting defensively, on American soil, by trying to create a "fortress America" is a fool with no strategic understanding of warfare.

Fight your battles on your enemies soil, take the offensive and the initiative. Make your enemy fight for his home.

That may not satisfy some people's PC or isolationist political sensibilities, but any other method of warfare is certain defeat.

You can't defend everything. But you can destroy your enemy's ability to continue...and even take his country away from him.

the forests are in substantially worse shape, snarled with timber and tinder-

Thanks to the enviro whackos. We should have crews in all of the forests clearing out underbrush. In a place I visit in Idaho, they do this religiously and never have to worry about fires. Of course, a lumber company owns those lands, not the National Forest Svs, which is constrained by aforementioned whackos and the laws and lawsuits they mount. They should all be condemned to living in snarled timber and dry tinder with no road out.

You know how sometimes you'll skim a thread to see if it's interesting enough to read in full or not?

As I did a skimming speed-read of the original article in this thread, my eyes caught the following phrase:

...a Japanese submarine flew over Oregon's forests dropping incendiary bombs...
Now *that* caught my attention, LOL.

Although these bombs were psychologically effective, the U.S. press didn't publish news of them to prevent the Japanese from learning of the effect they had on the American people."

Today the liberal press would give them GPS coordinates of the landing site, and advice on how to do better next time based on meteorological data.

Islamics terrorists/enemy combatants do this very type of a thing in a very large way in Volume II of the Dragon's Fury Series of novels about World War III.

But it's not individual incindiary devices...it's four teams in four cars driving along long stretches of linked, back country Colorado and New Mexico roads, fifty miles each, while tossing out molitavs when the atmospheric conditions are in line with what they have been trained for.

It results in a 200 mile long fire front in very dry and windy conditions that burns up the better part of central Colorada and displaces over 100,000 people, killing many hundreds and destroying millions of acres and doing economic damage in the billions before it's all said and done late that fall.

This is stuff we should take seriously IMHO. Homeland Defense needs to be calling for, training and equiping volunteers to watch infrastructure and for such things. Here in the west there would be no shortage of those volunteering to say take 3-4, 4 hour shifts a week. Let them keep the equipment as recompense for helping serve and protect their country. Have them work under each local Sheriff's office.

Just my opinion.

Best regards.

Yea...now if they would just implement a solution similar to what is proposed in the books. I outline it in post 73.

They'd have so many volunteers they could cover things 24X7 here in the west...freeing up the "Federal LEO's" who can't cover it all anyway to be used where they would be of more value.

We will probably have to suffer just such a catastrophic fire before we learn.

But I believe Al Queda shot it’s wad on 9/11, I believe that Osama Bin Laden knew full and well that once 9/11 went down he and his followers were marked men.

Maybe so...but they've won a substantial victory; just go to the airport and watch the 85 year old ladies get barefoot for the bufoons.

I pray not...it was in the hopes of avoiding such that I am writing these books...the threat is real and we continue to be (mostly) asleep to it. Borders are open and tens of thousands of OTM's are flowing across them quarterly.

BTW...HUGE CONGRATS!

Jeff, I have a VEY SERIES!!!!!!! question about your books.

What on Earth makes you think that the ChiComs could survive over six years of high-intensity warfare without their economy imploding before the end of Year One?

Read the books Poohbah my man, it is explained in there in some detail how they do so...and I don't want to spoil ot for others who have yet to read them.

Needless to say, a lot of planning goes into that aspect of things once they feel they have milked us dry, set themselves up to be "independent" and are ready to embark on their great gamble.

The Forest Service took note of the warning, a spokeswoman said, but didn't really change any of its policies or operating patterns.

No surprise here. A good kick in the butt would barely make the idiot Forest Service treehuggers twitch.
