George John Tenet was sworn in as Director of Central Intelligence on 11 July 1997 following a unanimous vote by both the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence and the full Senate. In this position he heads the Intelligence Community (all foreign intelligence agencies of the United States) and directs the Central Intelligence Agency.

Mr. Tenet served as the Deputy Director of Central Intelligence, having been confirmed in that position in July 1995. Following the departure of John Deutch in December 1996, he served as Acting Director.

Mr. Tenet previously served as Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director for Intelligence Programs at the National Security Council. While at the NSC, he coordinated Presidential Decision Directives on ''Intelligence Priorities,'' ''Security Policy Coordination,'' ''US Counterintelligence Effectiveness,'' and ''US Policy on Remote Sensing Space Capabilities.'' He also was responsible for coordinating all interagency activities concerning covert action.

Prior to serving at the National Security Council, he served on President Clinton's national security transition team.

One of his first steps after resigning from the Senate was to start the procedure to oust Anita Hill from the OU Staff and he succeeded. He resigned from the Senate to become President of OU.

I did not know that. That is great! My daughter is a lawschool student at OU so I am everlastingly thankful that she did not have Anita Hill as a law professor. Good grief. I am sorry I missed that commencement. My daughter's best friend graduated.

Clinton bombed an asprin factory, at @ $1 mill. per missile based on "bad intel", or so he said. Clinton lies, so we'll never know. I wonder why the Democrats weren't outraged.
Why, at least Bush has 3 more British intel reports to back up his claim. Only 1 of the reports was forged by a leftist kook in Italy. The rest of the Saddam/Africa uranium connections still are considered valid.
Bush was right again.

It was the best commencement speech I ever heard.

My oldest daughter was in the Journalism School now College during that period. Anita Hill used to complain that Boren snubbed her whenever she was in attendance at a function. Some of her female freinds got together and endowed a chair for Hill, but Boren refused to match the funding for the endowed chair in the Law School. Hill ended up at the satellite Law School in Tulsa, no one would take her class unless forced, and she finally resigned. Immediately the endowed chair was cancelled. It was hilarious and all over the Norman Transcript.

I met a really nice young woman who was a first year law student at OU last year. She and I passed out literature for the Cole campaign during the primary and worked on putting stickers on mailouts during the general election. If I never see another mailout with stickers again, it will be too soon!

Tonight did me in. O'Reilly speculating that Tenet is taking the fall for POTUS. Over and out. That's it.

O'Riely gets good guests, but he's getting way too liberal for my taste. I used to feel he was a good man, but now he's become Mr. Politically Correct.
I still watch him, but not if I can find something better on another station. I used to make sure I watched him. He's changed for the worse.
I can't listen to him on the radio anymore. I lose interest. I can't relate to his liberal views.

No. Just observant.
I like Hannity, but his side kick is weird.

This was my reaction too. The last paragraph of his statement is very telling. And if anything, it draws attention to how the line got into the speech in the first place.

Not really. Before the President gave the speech, it was routed back to the CIA to make sure that everything in it was ok. It was up to the CIA to tell the White House to take the line out. Nevertheless, Italian intelligence had given the Niger uranium intel to every country in europe! And not only that, there's reports that Saddam had previously bought uranium from Niger back in the '80's!

You raise some good points, but...When was the speech written, and who wrote the speech? The Niger component had been seen as dubious for some time before the speech was written, no? Who put that in there?

I refuse to watch Hannity because of Colmes! I don't need someone like Colmes coming on my TV in the evening to annoy me!

It's interesting because I was reading the Washington Times, and an article says that it is a bit troubling that the Bush Presidency hasn't had any scandles. In fact, the article was titled: LACK OF BUSH SCANDLES FRUSTERATES DEMOCRATES.

Now isn't that just a BIT interesting, especially when one considers that this article was written just a day or two before this new story broke.

It looks awful dirty. As far as I am concerned, Bush is going after those who fund terrorists. And who knows how or where that funding will impact the United States.

Does a mushroom cloud have to be looming over Chicago?

Like Anne Coulter said, the Democrats are always on the side of our enemies, they are ALWAYS upset when the U.S.
wins.

Thank you. I like Woolsey. I will never forget him saying that Clinton spent more time with Monica Lewinsky than he did discussing intelligence with Woolsey.

I use the Colmes segments to go pee or get a snack. When I get back, he's done spewing..... "whatever".
