PREDICTIONS FOR JULY 2003
The Seismic Window of July 10-17, 2003 is based upon the Full Moon on July 13th, a moderately close perigee 0f 226,763 miles on July 11th(within 69 hours of syzygy), and the second highest tides of the year until November. The tidal range at the Golden Gate will be 8.5 feet on July 13th and 15.7 feet in the Puget Sound on July 13th and 14th. Such a shift of water load in a six-hour period creates a rapid strain rate in the crust with a heightened probability of earthquake activity, just as we have seen in May and June. I predict with 80% confidence that the Seismic Window of July 10-17, 2003 will produce one or more quakes in each area with the following criteria:
- At least one 3.5-6.0M within 140 miles (2-degrees) of Mt. Diablo (38N; 122W)
- At least one 3.5-6.0M within 140 miles of Los Angeles. (34N; 116W)
- At least one 3.0-5.5M within OR, WA.
- At least one 7+M globally, probably in the Pacific Ring of Fire, where 80% of the strongest quakes occur.

I haven't heard much of Mr. Berkland for quite some time.
I remember all the hubbub he aroused over the behavior of pets and quake prediction.
Thanks for the heads up. Magnetohydrodynamics (Stan Friedman) mention.

They'll be making gold from lead before there will be reliable earthquake predictions.

I thought they already did the gold from lead thing with an atom smasher. Proved it could be done but the process would never even come close to cost effective.

I knew I had heard Berklands name before. Before FR I use to frequent the earthquake website.
I wonder if the earthquake predictions by headache woman is still around.

I wish George Snorey kept Jim on for another hour. Lately, I try and listen but usually doze off in a few minutes.
