Muslim call to thwart capitalism

By Mark McCallum
In Granada, Spain

Muslims heralded the return of a mosque to Granada

An Islamic conference in the Spanish city of Granada has called on Muslims around the world to help bring about the end of the capitalist system.

The call came at a conference titled 'Islam in Europe' attended by about 2,000 Muslims.

Earlier this week Granada saw the first official opening of a mosque in Spain for more than 500 years.

The keynote speaker at the conference was Umar Ibrahim Vadillo, leader of the worldwide Muslim group known as Murabitun.

The group is strongly opposed to capitalism.

Mr Vadillo said America's economic interests had become the religion of the world and that people slavishly adjusted their lifestyles to suit the capitalist model.

But he said capitalism cannot sustain itself and is bound to collapse.

Disapproval of terror

Mr Vadillo, a Spanish Muslim, called on all followers of Islam to stop using western currencies such as the dollar, the pound and the euro and instead to return to the use of the gold dinar.

He said the introduction of the gold dinar to the world's economies would be the single most unifying event for Muslims in the modern era.

Shortly afterwards, he said, the capitalist structure would quickly fall and it would make the Wall Street crash of 1929 seem minor by comparison.

The conference also heard from Abu Bakr Rieger, a German Muslim.

He said Islam could only be practised in Europe in a traditional way, not in one adapted to European values and structures.

He also said private terrorism would find no approval among European Muslims.

Right. But public terrorism would.

Both Vadillo and Rieger are native, ethnic Europeans.

What is a gold dinar? I have a feeling that the likelyhood of muslims to get gold is nil.

Just the implicit approval that moves through all mosques by their failure to CONDEMN.

How many of these European converts to Islam were Marxists who found Allah? Their rhetoric is little more than reheated Marxism garnished with Islamic piety.

"An Islamic conference in the Spanish city of Granada has called on Muslims around the world to help bring about the end of the capitalist system"

Figures. I've explained for years that the Islamism is best compatible with a socialist political system. That's why Islamists get along with Democrats and other tyrants so well. Freedom is antithetical to the concept of Sha'ria law, strict interpretations of which do not even allow for freedom of thought - look at the ridiculous rumors they swallow, which make reasoning individuals can derisively debunk in 30 seconds or less.

Looks like they're officially allying with social anarchists now. Bring 'em on.

Yer right, cake-crumb.

As for converts to Islam, two years ago when I was travelling in Spain (I'm a translator, and go to Spain fairly often), I heard a young woman on the radio in Valencia declaring that she had been a Marxist feminist but had decided that Islam was the true path for her. In other words, trading one authoritarianism for another. Or, in fact, not trading it, but combining the two.

Islam and Marxism are true soul-mates.

You've got to be f-ing kidding. Even the Wahabbi, Bin Ladenite nutters are anti-communist. Muslims, whether Arabs, Turks, Iranians, Pakistanis-- are an instinctively commercial people who see communism and socialism as an affront to God. (not to mention bad for business)

That however does not preclude the fact that some Eurotrash types would like to bring this uniquely European sickness (socialism) to the Middle East. Indeed, the elite of many of the ME countries may blab socialist sounding blather but that's all it is-- talk. Commerce is as much a part of their culture as the sand is to the desert.

By the way, Muslims here in the US voted 60-40 for Bush. Are there some who associate with the Dems? Sure. Lot of Christians and Jews associate with Dems, too. But I suspect the recent Supreme Court decision about sodomy is going to convince the Muslim community that if this country is to survive as a marginally moral society where they can raise children without perversion being celebrated in schools, then the GOP is the only choice.
