Here's a link to the text of the actual resolution. One error of fact is that it states that the BSA has a policy of excluding gays. This is wrong; the BSA has a policy of excluding avowed homosexuals. Homosexuals who don't preach about their sexuality and stick to the BSA program are welcome to join the BSA. Another error of fact is that they state that the policy started in 1978. The policy has been around since the BSA started. It wasn't until 1978 that circumstances required the BSA to discuss it, because until then it was generally inconceivable that anyone would think that an avowed homosexual would be compatible with Scouting.

The General Synod of the United Church of Christ

Isn't that one of those "mainstream" denominations that is declining precipitously?

"Discrimination against anyone based on sexual orientation is contrary to our understanding of the teachings of Christ..."

How do they figure that as far as the act is concerned?

The General Synod of the United Church of Christ

This is the most liberal Protestant denomination out there. They had homosexual clergy as early as 1967--when it wasn't on the radar screen of any church body.

The UCC does have some very conservative church bodies (Lake Avenue Congregational in Pasadena), but I'm not even sure how much these individual churches still associate with the wider denomination.

So the General Synod is willing to have other people's sons sexually molested by adult homosexuals who are attracted to the Boy Scouts and every other recruiting opportunity -- They want to feel good about their "moral" stand, and don't care the least about the harm to children that will result.

People who claim to be "moral" but who are blind to the dangerous consequences of their positions should be rightfully condemned as social morons.

Sodomy is an abomination to the Lord,

"Jude 7 "Even as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities about them, in like manner given themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire." "

after "legalizing" sodomy; they'll lower the "age of consent"...

"Discrimination against anyone based on sexual orientation is contrary to
our understanding of the teachings of Christ," delegates said in a resolution
adopted with overwhelming support.

from the lips of The Master:

Matthew 18
6 But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me,
it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck,
and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.

So I guess the UCC thinks Christ had an off day when he said this rather judgemental
thing about pedophiles and child abusers.

"Discrimination against anyone based on sexual orientation is contrary to our understanding of the teachings of Christ,"

They should read what Christ had to say in Matthew Chapter 18 verse 6, and rethink their understanding.

The Boy Scouts of America has been an ENTIRELY POSITIVE influence on our Nation for 100+ Years.

In ALL THAT CENTURY, there has NEVER BEEN a need to alter the Tenets or Practices of the Organization!

"Graduates" of the "Boy Scouts" have become OUTSTANDING & BRAVE Citizens of our Nation!

There is a VERY OLD & VERY WISE aphorism regarding This Situation & Life "In General;"----"If it Ain't Broke, Don't Fix It!!"

My Advice, (From a Simple Citizen,) LEAVE THE BOY SCOUTS ALONE!!!!

But, Then, Who ever listens to Us??
