House Majority Leader Tom DeLay yesterday drew a line in the sand by saying, hours before the Medicare conference committee opened, that House Republicans will not accept a bill that doesn't force Medicare to compete directly with private health care plans by 2010.

Good! I hope the freakin' thing goes down in flames.

PS, I wish they'd stop referring to this thing as a for "seniors" only. Why are they loathe to mention all those covered by Medicare ie all those SSI recipients with AIDS, ADD, bad backs, etc. Hell, with the cost of their drugs, they'll meet the cap in one month!

This is just another welfare scam for taxpayers to "contribute" to.
