New Tiger in the Cage to Chew on Liberals
Hernando Today ^ | 7/16/03 | Robert Nolte

Posted on 07/16/2003 2:25:31 AM PDT by DPB101

There is a new tigress in the political jungle waiting to devour Democrats whole, wasting no words in decapitating their rhetoric.

Her name is Ann Coulter and when it comes to translating liberal incantations, she has no peer. She unabashedly calls them unpatriotic and believes liberals, many in the Democratic Party, are "rooting against America." She publicly states that Democrats should disband their party.

Coulter is the darling of the Republican right wing and quickly becoming the bane of those who mock what she calls the more patriotic position of conservative politics.

Coulter was featured in a TIME magazine interview last week where she said liberals have "taken patriotism off the table as a topic for political debate. And they've done that by invoking McCarthyism, a myth of their own creation."

When TIME suggested Coulter was trying to "rehabilitate Joseph McCarthy," she shot back that liberals have been hysterical about McCarthy for 50 years and nobody has been arguing back.

"So now that someone's arguing back, yes, I'm expecting candlelight vigils," she said.

For those who want to read more of Coulter's writings, they are available in book form. "Slander" was a No. 1 best seller and now she has a second tome called "Treason" (Crown Form; 355 pages).

Coulter claims readers are hungry for her sharp-tongued rationale about liberals she claims are downright unpatriotic. "What we need now," she opines, "is to fight the war on terrorism, and liberals don't want to."

When she was asked if there was a way for Americans to come together politically as a country, Coulter had a succinct answer: "Oh, yes...the Democratic Party has got to go away. It's got to just hang up its stirrups. I really think it has functionally gone the way of the Whigs..."

I wonder if Coulter knows the Democrats in Hernando County have just about fulfilled her wish. The Democratic Executive Committee is not only looking for a new leader, it's also looking for a cohesive, cooperating membership that won't devour itself.

Nationally, the Democrats are in disarray and openly rejoicing that President Bush's popularity numbers are dropping. That's the only way the Dems can move forward -- if the other guy falters bad enough to make the Donkey Party look good. All some Democrats can do is carp about the Bush White House and offer little in the way of helpful solutions. The loyal opposition has become the bitter complainers that Coulter says does more to hurt the nation than help it.

During World War II, Coulter said both parties agreed on the defense of America. Now, liberals say the country will sink to second rate if we don't find those weapons of mass destruction in Iraq.

I like what Coulter says about that.

"People who love their country ought to be more concerned about what happened to those weapons. Are they in Syria? Are they in al-Qaeda's hands? Are they going to end up in New York? And instead all we get is female taunting from the Democrats."

I don't know what she means by "female" but being she is one, I guess she can say that. When the TIME interviewers asked her what she meant by the gender reference, Coulter would only say with a laugh, "I think your readers will understand it."

She's a gutsy lady who says what many Republicans would like to say but can't because they are too enmeshed in party politics. A fresh new face always makes a more forceful impact and I, for one, want to hear more from this literary newbie.

50,000 people go to a baseball game, but the game was rained out. A refund is then due. The team is about to mail refunds when the Congressional Democrats stopps them and decrees that they send out refund amounts based on the Democrat National Committee's interpretation of fairness. After all,if the refunds are made based on the price each person paid for the tickets, most of the money would go to the wealthiest ticket holders. That would be unconscionable!

Yah, like they care, what happened to those weapons. If we could hear that just one more time, pretty please.

"Treason" is a must read. Having seen what the liberals did to Ken Starr and Bork and Thomas, I can believe what she says happened to McCarthy. I am really enjoying reading this book.

I'm so proud of her for telling the truth about Tailgunner Joe. I have my official Coulter library sitting on my shelf and hope it grows book by book.

I agree.
I never knew anything about him, except that he was America's Hitler. Totally evil. The Anti-Christ.
And of course, he was a Republican.

Then I started reading Reagan's War. Good Grief! That book didn't cover McCarthy, but it certainly made the case that communism was spreading like mold in a basement.

Given that the dems have slandered McCarthy for so many years, I think its only fair that we now memorialize him -- maybe a McCarthy award for patriotic essays for high school kids.

I'd love to see a radical state legislature demand a public holiday in McCarthy's honor. Maybe offer the option of celebrating either Martin Luther King Jr. day or Tailguner Joe day. The dems would be forced to defend their party's position, but now they'd be defending communism. Maybe someone would finally answer the question, "Was McCarthy right? Were Soviet agents working in the State Department?"

LOL!...that would cause a few coronaries. Notice how all the reviews from the intelligentsia are stuffed with the same insipid, platitudinous froth regurgitate ad nauseam . But this review, from a grassroots kinda guy who lives among his readers, agrees with us.

"Maybe offer the option of celebrating either Martin Luther King Jr. day or Tailguner Joe day."

That is a wonderful idea.

I'm lousy at remembering dates, and too lazy to get up and get the book -- did Coulter mention McCarthy's birthday or the date of his passing? We could commemorate one of those days by sending letters to the editor of all our little Pravda-wannbes, asking if anyone has ever answered The Question:
Was McCarthy right? Were Soviet agents working for our State Department and against our national interests?
The editor here already questions my sanity -- let's see if I can get him to pop a blood vessel.
