Primetime: In the Shadow of Laci. I saw it. I found it very irritating. These people were complaining that their cases didn't get as much media attention as Laci. Well, guess what? You have to have EXTRAORDINARY CIRCUMSTANCES in a murder/disappearance to garner the attention of the media and the public. Yes, it's shockingly true! People disappear. People get murdered, but it must be ABOVE AND BEYOND the 'normal' crime to get the attention of anybody for very long.

A story needs "legs" to keep it going. That's a fact. If there is no more info besides so and so disappeared, where are they?, then it will die. That's just reality. So shut the heck up about people only care about Laci because she's white. It just so happens that the story has twists and turns that keep people interested.

Oh, and Elizabeth Vargas, why didn't you cover any missing MEN in your segment? Don't they matter? Are you sexist?

I'm glad I didn't see that program then if it was just some Latino's griping that they didn't get coverage like the Laci case because they were Latino. That is just bull!! I agree with your assessment. The case has to have "legs" and some very unusual circumstances to grab and "hold" the publics attention.!!
