A stroll along the pristine beach takes my brother and I past some topless bathers soaking in the afternoon sun. Embarrassed as teenagers in front of our Mum and Dad we all pretend we didnt notice and keep walking on in an awkward silence. Down the dirt alley to the local bar we are greeted with large, warm hellos and welcoming eyes. The locals knew me as Ketut meaning fourth born. They pour an ice cold beer for Mum and Dad as we sit to enjoy our Nasi Goreng, a traditional rice dish in the region. This scene hardly depicts much of the worlds image of a Muslim country but this is in fact a real and accurate representation of my ventures throughout my life in Indonesia the fourth most populous country with the largest Muslim population in the world. Indonesia is a country that separates church and state allowing a more tolerant, peaceful country. Kayaking with some locals from island to island, traveling in rickety boats, climbing the mountains, the volcano, exploring the back streets
I would say I know the hearts and minds of these peaceful people. But over the past six years in particular I started to see some changes, big changes. There was speculation it was Prime Minister John Howards poor foreign relations in the region but I knew it was something far greater than that. My journey down memory lane kept on unraveling more and more layers of this new global terrorism. Why was this terrorism so different to the terrorism the world had experienced for the past twenty years? People cried out against Islam and I knew from personal experience that was soooo wrong. So if it wasnt Islam who was it?

This is the beginning of my global campaign to start counteracting Saudi infiltration hence the marketing. Please remember my target audience do not eat this stuff up so I have to write accordingly.
You will hear "Hello" by Lionel Ritchie when you open the page in an effort to transport Indonesian's back to a moment in time when America was "ants pants" for them. This song was one of the most played songs in the eighties in Asia. "Hotel California" and "Surfin USA" always transports me back in time...

Islam is COMPLETELY different in Asia as it is the Middle East. I remember in Bangkok in the eighties they had graffiti all over the walls saying "go home Arabs". They reject the fundamentalism as vigilantly as we do.
America needs to understand the difference so we don't shoot blindly into a crowd, miss our enemy and insight war with people who would have otherwise left us alone. Doing just as the Saudi's hope for...

Hello has to be one of the cheesiest songs of all time. I remember Hotel California with some fondness however.
It always reminds me of the telly mini-series Rich Man Poor Man for some reason. Maybe, I was reading the great book it was based on at the time.

When I was in Moscow in the 80s, we went to the "Uzbek" restaurant and the band kept playiing Hotel California for us, two women traveling together. Just about every other song was Hotel California. LOL!

You won't find too many people here to disagree with you that the Saudis are at the bottom of these terrorist attacks. They have spent hundreds of billions exporting radical Islam around the world, funding madrassahs, and teaching young Muslim children to hate the West. They continued to do it after 9/11 despite Bush's pleas, and they continue to do it now.
Good luck to you.

Thanks. I just read an article suggesting the Saudi's are promoting some of the resistance in Iraq even today. Mates with everyone and friends to no one.

Did the restaurant have mirrors on the ceiling and pink champagne on ice...? Well, yes, but you were a prisoner there of your own device.
