EAGLE, Colorado (CNN) --Hearing NBA all-star Kobe Bryant deny the sexual assault charge filed against him made his accuser "sick to her stomach," a friend of the woman said Monday.

Bryant, an all-star guard for the Los Angeles Lakers, has been charged with one count of sexual assault. He has steadfastly maintained his innocence, and after the charge was announced Friday, he admitted having sex with his 19-year-old accuser but said the encounter was consensual.

What did she expect him to say? "Yep, I did it. No trial needed."

"She's not doing this for the attention or money"

Whatever....I just wonder how much money it is going to take to get her dignity back? Anyone care to start a bet as to how much money she WILL get from Kobe? I'm going to say $2 million.....let the bets begin

he had the nerve to cry and just go by, holding his wife's hand."

I am willing to bet that is the part that sickened her the most.

"I would rather that her privacy be honored and that she be able to remain private," Hurlbert said.

I would rather that her identity be publicized. There is no reason in the world for a woman who screams rape after sleeping with a celebrity to have anonymity. The media should expose this charletan, instead of giving her the P.R. advantage. They are smearing a celebrity simply because of his celebrity. And while I know little of this case, I am aware of the doctrine that a person is innocent until proven guilty. Let this woman be outed so the truth can come out.

Well, for example, I expect clinton to be a creep mouthing off and undermining the country, but it still makes me sick to my stomach to hear him. Could be that's what she meant.

Rita Cosby just gave one of her reports and said the authorities are extremely confident of the their case and they do have evidence of physical injury like bruising.

How much will she get for granting an exclusive interview when this is all over?

Are you sure she "slept with" him and wasn't raped? It doesn't sound like an amorous adventure to me. Twenty minutes in the room and bruises and torn clothing are the result according to the last report I heard.

As long as we're clear that we know absolutely nothing, I'm all for speculating. Heck, that's part of the fun of the internet.

I think the overdose incident is going to lead the prosecution to deal with Bryant; maybe lesser charge like misdemeanor assault. I think he'll hold out for acquittal. I also think that another revelation like the O.D. incident sinks the entire case. I'm not saying that's "right", but I can see it happening.

I tell my kids that teenager's brains shrink until they become so small, they can roll around inside their heads. Sometimes you have to tap them on the side of head until the brain rolls into the spot where it connects with the rest of the body. When teenagers reach their 20's, their brains will start to swell to their normal adult size.

(I have 2 and half teens at home.)

Why is this such a divisive issue already? It has become vicious here on the FR every time the subject is brought up. And NONE of us know any real facts as yet, and probably won't for quite a while.

You clearly have more information than I do.

I do not tend to believe by default the stories of women that go to the bedrooms of celebrities in the middle of the night, and then cry foul.

And if this woman has clear evidence of rape, why hide in the shadows. Something stinks about this case, IMHO.

"...so the truth can come out."

The only truth to emerge so far, is that Bryant has told two different stories: one pre-, and one post-charge.

It sounds like to me that she was flattered by the attention she got from him and flirted with him but didn't want to be his nightcap quickie girl. Kobe's obviously an egotistical spoiled brat who is not used to hearing the word "no" (or is used to hearing it from girls who eventually consent to anything when he puts the full court press on them). He's a sleaze but it's doubtful he'll be convicted. This reminds me of the William Kennedy Smith case (which involved another spoiled brat not used to hearing the word "no").

As you can see from my previous post above, I agree that we know absolutely nothing about the case that can warrant a definitive Guilty/Not Guilty answer. But I also like playing the speculation game. How about we post a disclaimer on any Kobe thread indicating that every single reply is full of crap and should not in any way be construed as anything other than wild assumption on the part of some cubicle-bound loafer? Suits me, and I'll reply like crazy...

Neither do I. I'm one of those case by case types, though I don't mind harking to other cases and noting similarities and the like. That is no basis for making conclusions.

However Rita Cosby just reported what seemed to have been the likely scenario in the first place: That the girl, who worked at the hotel, was delivering something to his room that was hotel related. Cosby is also the one who a few minutes ago said the police are extremely confident of their case based on physical evidence alone.
