If she were devious enough to pull off this frolic on the sheets in order to get in Bryants pocketbook, why would she do something stoopid like this?

From what I can tell, it doesn't sound like she did it to get in Bryant's pocket. It sounds like she's mentally unstable and desperate for attention.

why would she do something stoopid like this?I think "stupid" is the operative word for all parties involved in this. I don't think anyone of these folks are Mensa candidates by any stretch...

You don't have to be an evil genius to conjure up up a fake rape charge. These charges aren't necessarilly part of a diabolical plot to squeeze money out of Kobe or an devious plot planned and plotted from before they even hit the sheets... the girl could just be an unstable attention-seeking wacko as it's been suggested before.. which would make a story like this hardly a surprise.

Teens usually don't rat each other out unless they really hate each other or they are ready for everyone else to hate them. She probably thought they were all close enough friends that they wouldn't tell and if she was drinking she certainly wouldn't have been thinking straight.

Given the current state of education in this country, and the fact that criminals as a rule are not the sharpest knives in the drawer (usually), it is totally believable that she would try to scam this, and not be able to keep from bragging about it. At 19 years old, she probably hasn't got the smarts it takes to pull of a successful scam.
Personally, I think she's after money. I've heard that she has tried this before....
