Be real. If that sort of punishment were metered out for those infractions, there would be a lot fewer 40something men with plugs and gold chains around their necks chasing the 20somethings in the bar scenes.

Not all of God's strikes are metered out according to his justice. You think God has to be consistent on this? Or is it possible that the bulk of these strikes fell on Jesus Christ at Calvary instead of you & me?
You can poo-pa Wide Awake's comment, but since consistency is your bottom line, you need to poo-pa Peter's words to Ananias & Sapphira in Acts 5, too...there you could say, "If that sort of punishment was metered out for those infractions (withholding $ already pledged to the church), there would be a lot emptier pews in churches today."
