Bronze plaques displaying Bible verses removed from Grand Canyon National Park after a query from the American Civil Liberties Union were returned to the park Wednesday.

The plaques, quoting three verses from the Psalms, were returned to Hermit's Rest, Lookout Studio and Desert View after Donald Murphy, deputy director of the National Park Service, ordered them put back.

But he added that people shouldn't be allowed to use a national park to push religious views.

Unless your religion is atheistic secular humanism...then you're free to ram it down everyone's throat. Or Islam...for that we'll turn classrooms in public schools into mosques.

Okay, here's the thing: the anti-religion minions hang their capes on but part of the wording of the Constitution (no real surprise there). Congress shall make no law establishing religion, yes.

But Congress shall also not make a law prohibiting the free exercise of religion.

Bans of religious displays, prayer, and so forth, when couched under the initial respective phrasing of the First Amendment, cannot be reconciled with the fact that such bans are contrary to the remaining phrase of the First Amendment as it applies to the practice of religion.

What is the forced removal of an image of the ten commandments if not a prohbition against one's free exercise of religion?

I'm familiar with the Evangelical Sisterhood of Mary. A wonderful group of women who love the Lord. This ACLU is beginning to bug the living heck outta me and I wish God would just open up the earth under them. Since he probably won't just because I want him to, we'll have to deal with them. Grand Canyon Superintendent Joe Alston had the plaques removed on July 9 after receiving a recommendation from regional park officials.
What a sad but classic example of CYA.
What regional Park officials?
Whoever they are they need a little attitude adjustment, and a refresher on common sense.

The American Civil Liberties Union's National Capital Area chapter had first inquired about the plaques in February after receiving a question from a tourist.
A question? One? From a tourist? One?
