Considering which President pushed NAFTA and GATT before GW.

But, in general, the protective system of our day is conservative, while the free trade system is destructive. It breaks up old nationalities and pushes the antagonism of the proletariat and the bourgeoisie to the extreme point. In a word, the free trade system hastens the social revolution. It is in this revolutionary sense alone, gentlemen, that I vote in favor of free trade.

~Karl Marx, "On the Question of Free Trade" - January 9, 1848

This article is correct about service jobs being out sourced off shore.
Just an hour ago when I pulled up to the speaker box at McDonalds to order a Big Mac and fries, the person taking my order was actually in Tiawan and relayed the order to the fry cook via computer.
That really burned me up. But at least the guy in Taiwan spoke English, unlike the previous employees here.

Please explain Marx's letter and the context. I'll admit I couldn't follow it.

Is Karl Marx's quote on free trade relevant today?

I'm sure Karl Marx favored eating 3 square meals a day as well.

Common sense is not monopolized....

Indeed! And yet, those who falsely claim to be "Conservatives" continue their ad hominem attacks against us, the true Right. No doubt a large percentage of the faux "conservatives" who espouse hypermodernity, economism and globalism are simply naive and ignorant; although a small percentage of those who attack us here are no doubt agents of anti Western forces and agents provacateurs, out to destroy our civlization. Sun Tzu would have recognized this; it is a form of unrestricted warfare.

True. It has been posted before on FR that, until recently, free-traders were progressives (e.g., socialists and communists, aka "liberals"), and the protectionists were the conservatives. Modern-day "Neo-conservatives", like Reagan and the Bush's, have adopted the doctrine of the Marx on the matter of trade. It appears G.W. Bush has adopted other Marxist doctrines, as well, such as State (central government) control of public education, redistribution of wealth, etc..
