I'm waiting for someone to marry a 12 year old and use it for a test case. After all, who are we to judge?

Jerry Lee Lewis married his 13 year old cousin. How's that?

May happen sooner than you think. The minimum marriage age is 12 in places like Tanzania, Philippines and Sri Lanka. All it will take is for someone who is legally married in his home country to a 12-yo to come over to the US and be arrested for having sex with his 12-yo wife

Why go to such extremes? This case is a perfectly reasonable test case. You can argue the 12 year old isn't old enough to legally consent. These people are adults. I think this guy thinks he's in the same boat as Woody Allen-- only legally her father (that the kid is some other guy's flesh and blood).

Twelve year-olds can legally get married in Texas (unless it's been changed in the last few years).

A 14 year-old can get married without pemissions from anybody; a 13 year-old can get married with parents permission and a 12 year-old can get married if they can talk a judge into signing the order.

I found out about this in the '80s when reading about a marriage-license clerk who was retiring after some un-godly long period of time.
