LOS ANGELES, and WASHINGTON, July 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Bruce Nestande, campaign spokesperson for former United States Congressman Michael Huffington today (July 25) issued the following statement:
"Former Republican United States Congressman Michael Huffington today obtained nomination papers to run for Governor of California from the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder. He paid the $3,500 filing fee and has until August 9th to complete the paperwork and return the documents to the County. After much encouragement by friends and supporters to consider seeking the office of Governor, he made the decision to consider his candidacy now that an election date has been set.
"The former Congressman lost to Senator Dianne Feinstein by the very slim margin of 1.6% in the 1994 race for United States Senate. Mr. Huffington, like all Californians, is deeply disturbed by the existing fiscal crisis that clearly adversely affects a broad range of issues from job creation to the credibility of all educational and governmental institutions in California. The former Congressman feels qualified by his background in finance to successfully deal with this deepening financial crisis and re-establish California's fiscal integrity. Mike Huffington's candidacy would discredit the desperate claims by Gray Davis that the Governor's Office will be captured by a right wing conspiracy.
"Mr. Huffington will make a decision regarding his candidacy during this two week filing period. An announcement will be made when that decision has been finalized. Until that time no further statements will be forthcoming."

Maybe he is counting on the homosexual votes. Apparently he thinks CA is ready for an openly homosexual governor.

Yep. But both the dears have deep pockets. The fem of the duo has such a thick accent that I can only understand half of what she says. She writes well though, and has occasional flashes of lucidity to leaven her largely kookish mindset.

I feel a comedy movie script here. Let's see. A lazy but incredibly rich secretly gay Congressman is urged by his wife to run for Senator by pouring oodles of cash into the campaign. He just barely loses and pretty much drops out of politics forever (or so we thought). Then he splits from his wife with the Zsa-Zsa accent and declares that he's GAY!!! The Zsa-Zsa wife then becomes a hit on the pundit circuit as a conservative but then suddenly switches and becomes a liberal attacking SUVs. Then when the California governorship looks like it will become open due to a recall petition, the Zsa-Zsa wife drops a lot of hints that she will run for governor. This is amazing enough but then her GAY ex-hubbie from whom nobody has heard a peep in years suddenly announces that he will ALSO be running for governor of California. So now it looks like the nutty Zsa-Zsa wife and her GAY ex-hubbie will be running against each other in the land of Fruits and Nuts.... Only in California.
p.s. There is something in this scenario about the Zsa-Zsa wife once running some sort of cult organization but I forgot what it was. The latest info has sort of overwhelmed even that.
Anyway, this MUST be made into a movie....And it has to be a COMEDY!

Now I know why they always talk about 'Big Tent' parties - it's going to be a 3-ring circus!
This'll be better than the OJ Simpson saga!

The Huffington vs Huffington debate would be HILARIOUS. The ex-wife will speak with a Zsa Zsa accent and the ex-hubbie will speak with a West Hollywood lisp.

Huffington vs Poofington.

Arianna once tried to get Moonbeam Jerry Brown to marry her which gives you an idea about her taste in men.

She writes well though, and has occasional flashes of lucidity to leaven her largely kookish mindset. She is nothing but an opportunist. What appear to be flashes of lucidity are her attempts to portray herself as a "fiscal conservative."
They are both a couple of carpet bagging , self-serving phonies. I doubt they will hit triple digits between them.

If Saturday Night Live can't do a skit about this then they better shut down their show. This is just way too EASY.

Let the games (the list of candidates) begin.
FWIW, I did hear a great radio ad for Issa today on 790 KABC. I say, great because it was one of the best "on point" synopsis of the Davis corruptions and mismanagments . . . the "cooked books" part about the budget really rocked!

I can just see the ex-hubbie throwing a major hissie fit about the way his ex-wife used to order him around and she would be yelling back in her Zsa Zsa voice.
