My job moved to Florida, I stayed here.

Norm, you and your wife should reconsider following your job to FL. No state personal income tax, affordable homes going up in value each day, improved education, low unemploymnet, low property taxes, great weather, etc. There are many good reasons 700+ people permanently relocate to FL each day. And, the state is still beautiful in terms of its environment. Right now there is no other place I'd rather live.

My girlfriend bought a small 3 bedroom house on a huge lot in Naples area, very nice neighborhood for $55,000 about 4 years ago.

Going soon myself to South Carolina. Wife and I had enough. We are leaving Los Angeles in January. $300,000 for a 1,400 square foot house that we are renting is just silliness. The next door neighbors got $309,000 for a house just this size.

I like to work, but I don't like it so much, that I am going to pull 80 hour weeks in order to buy a house I will be too tired to enjoy. The California dream is over.

My wife is close to the end of the road work-wise, but has been with her employer for too many years to leave now. Thanks for the offer. We may end up in Nevada if that state doesn't go nutso taxwise in the next 5 years. Florida is too humid for me and my cats don;t like gators. ;-)
