Graham: 2004 Could Bring Bush's 'Impeachment'
NewsMax.com ^ | 7/27/03 | Carl Limbacher and NewsMax.com Staff

Presidential candidate Sen. Bob Graham, D-Fla., said Sunday that President Bush won't be impeached as long as Republicans control Congress, but added, "The good news is that in November of 2004 the American people will have a chance to both impeach and remove George W. Bush in one step."

Speaking on "Fox News Sunday," Graham reiterated his believe that the president had committed an impeachable offense by leading the U.S. into war under what he suggested were false pretenses, going so far as to accuse Bush of "dereliction of duty."

"Clearly, if the standard is what the House of Representatives did in the impeachment of Bill Clinton, the actions of this president are much more serious in terms of dereliction of duty for the president of the United States."

Graham insisted somewhat bizarrely that Bush's 16-word State of the Union address reference to Iraq seeking uranium from Niger was critical to the administration's case for making war on Iraq.

"It was central because the rationale of going to war was that the United States' people were under an imminent threat," he told Fox News.

When "FNS" host Brit Hume reminded the Florida Democrat that Bush had specifically warned that the U.S. couldn't afford to wait until the threat from Saddam was imminent, Graham retreated into semantics.

"This was described as not a preventive war, but a pre-emptive war," he explained. "The difference between preventive and pre-emptive is, how imminent is the threat. If this was a pre-emptive war, then the administration must have had some reason, or at least stated it had a reason, for that imminence. And the most significant threat was nuclear."

"We've known that they've had biological and chemical for a long time," Graham continued unconvincingly. "But the fact that they might be on the verge of having nuclear capabilities is what made it so imminent and therefore justified the pre-emptive war."

You mean mercilessly. Double negative.

That too.

As long as it is with a heavy, blunt object, designed to inflict as much pain as possible.

It might even bring him to his limted senses.

Fire Tenet for accepting misleading intelligence. Make sure the public knows that he was appointed under the Clinton regime. Why would Bush want to keep anybody in a high position from the Clinton administration? Didn't Clinton fire all the DA's from the previous administration?

All her "interviews" where she gets the questions first won't be allowed. Instead of crisp and concise answers (vague ones mostly) we will get the real Hillary. "You know, you know, you know......."

You forgot ... I don't recall

I saw this blathering fool with Brit and I was appalled at his idiocy. If he thinks he can ever be president, he needs to be locked-up - he's certifiable. Of course, he did slip up and claim that he was President of Florida, LOL!

Graham needs to go back to recording in his little diary how many times he breaks wind each day. We have a real president who is getting things done.

Unfortunately Lazio invaded her "space".

Hillary doesn't have a space, she has an orbit.

Brit was having mucho fun with Graham this morning...it is worth a peek. OHHHHH when they got into his pathetic standings in the Dems race and his inability to raise money...he went to his lame "we are gonna win" pump up the troops rally speech.

Any voting Dem who could possible believe this delusional candidate's claim to victory...MUST believe his theory on impeachment practices...

They're going to make it that a difference of opinion is an impeachable offense.

The good news is that the American people will have a chance to destroy the "traitor/treason" Democrat Party in 2004. Poor Senator Graham, he is toast and does not have a clue! What an idiot!

The media seems to take the responsibility of hiding Hillary's warts!

Hell, yes!

Responsibility? The mass media sees this as their bounden and constitutional duty.

Because they love her. They really love her.

They really, really love her.

They really, really, really love her.

And so on, ad infinitum.

Sick.

I think he was refering to the Presidential election not regaining control of Congress and conducting an impeachment trial.

Right, he is simply predicting a Bush loss. That is perfectly reasonable campaign trash talk. Like Kerry speaking of a regime change in Washington.

Much ado about nothing to condemn this type of campaigning.

Graham is a complete A**. I hope the voters in FL see that next time. And I know he has no real support to become President. He has no clue as to how to defend the US either foreign or domestic - he should be recalled and tried for treason!

Bob Graham sits on the Intelligence Committee. He sees most of the threats against this country, which the CIA and the FBI must counter to avoid an attack.

For months Graham has been saying that we haven't spent enough on homeland security. I see he has dropped that charge and is going on the intelligence angle.

However, the fact remains that his key issue for months was spending more on homeland security.

I believe, and will so believe until my dying day, that he saw enough intelligence that he thought there was a very good chance we would be attacked by terrorists. He decided to put homeland security as his premier issue so that when the attack occurred, he could say "I told you so" and gain political advantage.

So, he was using (and still is) his position on the Intelligence Committee for partisan gain. He has been foiled in this by the fact that we HAVE stopped terorist attacks on our shores. Otherwise, he would be blaming George Bush for any attacks.

He is a despicable person, and should be brought up before the ethics committee.
