Fifty years ago this morning, silence defined the Korean DMZ. The Forgotten War was over.
Some 34,000 American troops died in the Korean conflict - a bitter bloodletting tucked between America's unambiguous victory in World War II and the nation's ignominious retreat from Vietnam.
