GIVE BOARD OF ED AN 'F' ON GAY SCHOOL
New York Post ^ | 7/29/03 | STEVE DUNLEAVY

July 29, 2003 -- MY LATE uncle Huey Dougherty was as gay as a New Year's Eve party. He was the toast of postwar Europe with the blockbuster play he wrote, "Seagulls Over Sorrento."

He was just a tad short of a genius - as is my cousin, Nick, who is as tough as an old rock but jokes that he was born with a broken wrist. Certainly gay - and someone I revere.

This "gay" school smells like segregation to me.

Indeed? Its the only form of racism that's politically correct.

It may be all the things Dunleavy says it is, but it was also entirely predictable. Given todays current pc climate and overwhelming liberal influence in schools (and everything else), you could have bet and won a lot of money concluding that an idiocy like this was just a matter of time. If they think that this will save homosexual teens from persecution from homophobes, just wait until the kid tells other kids what school he goes to. What's next? A special school for teens with bipolar disorder? Drug addiction?

I dunno. Us homophobes must be too malign and influence to assign "other gender" students their own school. I mean when you think about the pro-gay themes in the popular culture, this need for segregation strikes one as ridiculous in the extreme. Its not like we want to marry them when they grow up.

Won't they need homosexual colleges, then? And homosexual workplaces? And nursing homes?

I know it's a repost but enjoy...

Long also raises legitimate questions about the school's curriculum: "Is there a different way to teach homosexuals? Is there gay math?"

Little Johnny is married to little Tommy and have a "loving" but "open" marriage. How may times can little Johnny cheat on little Tommy before little Tommy goes insanely jealous and chops little Johnny into eensey-weensy litte pieces?

1) 27 times with random men.

2) 44 times with men they both know at the "Copa".

3) 53 times with random men and that "bitch Steve" who works tends bar at the "Copa".

4) 76 times with random men including 23 encounters in the public restroom at "Playland".

5) All of the above

6) None of the above

7) What are you doing tonight, sweetie?

Is there an all-white high school in New York?

It's been around for 20 years, and is just getting publicity now because it's being expanded to accommodate 100 students -- still microscopic in the context of the NYC public school system. At least in its original incarnation, it was designed for kids who were getting beat up at their regular schools, and dropping out because they were afraid to go to school. Obviously, the regular schools need a massive overhaul, but in the meantime I don't have a problem with providing special alternatives like this one, for kids who really want to stay in school. The city isn't spending any more money per student on this gay school, than on the regular high schools, and there's probably a lot more real learning going on in the gay school (since there's almost no real learning going on in the regular high schools).

It would be a good idea, though, if parents of some straight kids, or of gay kids who don't want to attend a segregated school, would sue the city, demanding small, violence free schools for their kids. The people who set up the gay school 20 years ago should get credit for playing the system, in order to get a decent and safe education for a small group of NYC public high school students. Now other people need to follow their lead and get the same thing for lots more kids. Ideally, the need for a segregated gay school would disappear.

No, because colleges and workplaces and nursing homes don't tolerate unchecked violence. Unfortunately, the regular NYC public high schools do, and gay students are hardly the only victims. Instead of complaining about this 100 student gay school, people should be raising a huge ruckus about the state of the regular schools which tens of thousands of students attend.

Homosexuality:

Homosexuality is deviant sexual behavior and a mental illness.

Homosexuals: 1) subject their body parts to uses nature did not intend, such activities often presenting immediate risk to the participants; 2) are prone to greater suicide, depression and other mental disorders and deficiencies than the heterosexual population at large; 3) are prone to far greater sexually transmitted diseases, including AIDS, than the (normal) heterosexual population; 4) molest young people (pedophilia) at a far greater rate than heterosexuals; 5) engage in degrading sexual promiscuity, oftentimes engaging in risky sex with many partners during the same event; 6) are engaged in aggressive and widespread efforts to indoctrinate our children by introducing the homosexual lifestyle using public schools as the primary indoctrination “vehicle” and likewise, through the movie/music/TV industry, with the dual goals of gaining school-age acceptance of homosexuality and encouraging sexual activity among children, especially same-sex experimentation; 7) view most everything through a mindset heavily biased in favor of the homosexual lifestyle and culture, which renders them mostly useless when asked to opine on matters that normal heterosexuals better resolve.

The mental deficiencies described herein applying to homosexuals shall not be confused with the deficiencies associated with the left wing democrat/socialist/marxist/ feminist/environmentalist minds, etc., which have their own distinct set of mental disorders.

This doesn't even touch on what the Bible has to say about homosexuality.

Separate school and state. No compulsory attendance, no tax funding, nada.

Yes, that would be ideal. But more realistic would be to keep the school tax system in place, but eliminate government run schools completely, and let the tax revenues go to a fully funded voucher program (i.e. where the vouchers cover the full reasonable cost of educating a student). This would eliminate the undesirable effects of having poor people not sending their school (or schooling them at home, which poor working parents can't do because they're at work and/or poorly educated themselves). The federal government allows all its college financial aid to be applied by the student to the school of the student's choice, and apart from the military academies the federal government operates no colleges. This model could work just as well for states at the pre-college level.

..or how 'bout all-Republican or all-Straight?
Of course there are not, now. But I'm wondering if this gay school is setting a precedent which would allow the establishment of the aforementioned?

just wait until the kid tells other kids what school he goes to. "Hey, Bruce--what school do you go to?" Bruce:"Saint Swithin's School for Sissies. Wanta make something of it?" The parents of these poor kids better make sure they learn how to fight!

Nothing to do with race... but given enough time this slippery slope will involve it eventually. It is about bullying and fighting and supposed (intolerance). Hey if they want to have their OWN PRIVATE school with zero gov't funds to teach sexually confused kids homosexuality is fine then go ahead. However is segregating bullies from the bullied the solution? Nope. Ther is so much wrong with the NYC public school system that bullying is the expression of many such as lack of discipline BUT the UFT/NEA teacher's mafia- I mean teacher's union will not own up to any of it. Besides many of the gay people in the Village of NYC, they are VERY rich and yuppie-fied and can afford private school. Speaking of RACE, there was a Harlem based all girls academy designed for girls who were being sexually attacked in public schools/held back in classes because the boys were fooling around. Their test scores were on par with many white students in private schools. The NY Civil Liberties Union said OH IT'S SEGREGATION/SEXIST!

Where is the NYCLU now?

And then there's the matter of the dumbed-down curriculum. Imagine the daily schedule. Fashion Design, Interior Design, Fashion Photography, Runway, LUNCH, Hair Design, Theatre, Color Analysis, and of course, Abnormal Psychology.

Where is the NEA on this. If NYC set up a school for smart white kids, no one else need apply, they would be burning the administration building down.

You've got more stomach than I for reform.

Two cheers for vouchers, no - one cheer.

No, not even that. (Insert finger in mouth and make cork popping sound - "Whoop-de-do!)
